A/N: Neville's lost, but someone helps him find his way.

Neville was lost after the war. Everyone else seemed to know what they wanted. Luna and Ginny were finishing school; Ron, Hermione and Harry joined the Ministry; even Seamus’ propensity for blowing things up got him a job at Gringotts. Apparently, goblins liked explosions.

But all Neville knew were plants and guerrilla warfare. And he’d no desire to pursue either.

Surprisingly, Blaise Zabini set him on his path. Encountering him loitering about Diagon one day, Neville blinked. “You okay, Zabini?”

Zabini, a Slytherin who’d helped shield students from the Carrows, shrugged.

“Coffee?” offered Neville.

Zabini agreed, and so it began.

“...good listener,” said Zabini, leaning back.

Neville, who’d been listening attentively for hours, nodded. “People like to talk to me.”

Zabini pursed his lips. “Have you considered becoming a mental Healer?”

Neville sighed. “I’m pants at Potions, and you need that to join the Healer’s program.”

Zabini hummed. “I’m pretty good in Potions. I’ll tutor you so you can qualify, if I can get free sessions with you for life.”

Neville blinked. “You’re pretty confident I can do it.”

Zabini shrugged. “There are plenty of lost souls out there you could help.”

Neville smiled, shaking his hand. “Deal.”

“Told you.” Blaise scanned Neville’s new office. “Congratulations, Healer Longbottom.”

Neville shook his head. “I’m surprised how much I enjoy my work. But helping lost souls with mental issues...this feels good.”

“And I’ve a Healer at my disposal,” murmured Blaise. “Works out all around.”

Neville laughed. “You don’t actually have any mental issues. You just want someone to talk to.”

Blaise hummed. “Your point?”

Neville smiled. Blaise’d been flirting for months. Perhaps it was time-- “If I wasn’t your Healer we could legitimately date.”

Blaise’s gaze sharpened. “In that case...You’re fired. Have dinner with me?”

Neville chuckled. “Yes.”

Ahhhhh god I love this pairing! I like the platonic beginning to the relationship and how mentioning dating for (presumably) the first time at the end wasn't dramatic at all.

Not that I dislike drama, of course, but this way just works for them here. :-D
