A Good Compromise

“This may sting,” Severus said, preparing the injection.

Remus exhaled. “Do it.”

Severus stepped into the vee between Remus’ legs. Biting his lip, Remus looked away, suppressing his body’s instinctive reaction. Across the exam room was a mirror, and Remus’ eyes widened as he took in the sight they made.

“Ready?” Severus asked, his hands steady.

“Yes.” Remus didn’t wince as the needle bit into his skin. He was too busy watching their reflection. To anyone walking by, we look like we’re in a compromising position--

“There.” Severus stepped back. “Same time next week.”

Flushed, Remus nodded. “See you then.”

“The full moon’s approaching,” Severus said upon Remus’ return. “Has there been any decline in your symptoms?”

Remus swallowed. Not in my libido. “Not really.”

Severus hummed. “Well, it’s early I suppose. I’ve made adjustments to the formula, but this week I’d like to increase the dose.”

“All right,” Remus said. “Side effects?”

“I’ve no idea.” Severus coughed. “Which is why I’d like to observe your transformation this month.”

Remus’ eyes widened. “You would?”

Severus snorted. “Not really, but I should. Still, I won’t be put in a compromising position. I want you in a cage.”

Remus sighed. “All right.”

When the full moon arrived, Remus was in Severus’ clinic. Dismissing his staff, Severus secured all breakables before placing a cage in the centre of a room.

“You’re sure about this?” Remus asked, approaching the cage.

“Scientific observations are best made directly.”

Remus smiled. “Thank you.”

“This isn’t just for you, it’s for everyone affected.”

“Nevertheless, I appreciate it.”

Severus coughed. “Indeed.”

Remus tingled with the pull of the moon. “Secure me before I turn and we end up in a...compromising position.”

Severus nodded. “The cage should be comfortable.” And, as Remus entered, he asked, “Ready?”

Remus sighed. “Yes.”
