Snowflake Challenge Day 11, 2015

Day 11

In your own space, post a rec for fannish and/or creative resources. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

For the most part, what follows are resources I use every day.

Google is indispensable, and there are ways to make google work better for you.

I always have Thesaurus up as well because I'm frequently looking for a new way to say something.

Because I write in a magical fandom, I sometimes have to create spells, so I always have an English to Latin Dictionary at my disposal. I've found this one from Notre Dame to be user friendly.

Of course, I couldn't write Harry Potter without The Harry Potter Lexicon, and I have been known to use the Harry Potter Wiki as well (although sticklers for canon do not like this resource).

Since I write in a British fandom, I also like to have my stories sound British, difficult for a Jamaican cum American. So I will sometimes check British vs American spelling differences or the UK slang dictionary.

I haven't used it in a while, but I really hate coming up with titles sometimes, so I will, on occasion, try a Title Generator.

[livejournal.com profile] little_details is useful, particularly for someone wanting an expert in an unusual field.

And, while I haven't looked at it in ages, The Snowflake Writing Method can be handy to keep in mind.
