The Friday Five 1/25/19
Wow, this is my first Friday Five of the new year. :)
1. What are your feelings about winter?
These days I actually appreciate winter. As someone who grew up in Jamaica, I didn't really have to deal with this season until I went to college in New York. At first it was a novelty, then it was a nuisance, and finally it was kinda nice to have a change in seasons. And since I'm having hot flashes these days, I really enjoy being able to step outside to cool off, LOL.
2. What is your go-to drink in the winter? (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)
I'm fond of hot tea year round, actually. I drink it decaffeinated since I'm super sensitive to caffeine. A specific winter drink would be warm apple cider. Yum. Oh! And hot chocolate. :)
3. What are your favorite things about the winter?
The temperature. Now that I have hot flashes, I would be fine if the temperature remained like this year round. I also think snow (which is rare here) is pretty, although I can do without icy roads. :P
4. How do you deal with the wintry blues?
I had my first attack of wintry blues when I was in medical school in upstate New York, and it took me completely by surprise. I didn't realize how dependent I was on the sun. Once I figured it out, I moved south to a place where there's enough sun to keep the blues at bay, LOL.
5. What are your least favorite things about the winter?
The potential for bad weather, especially ice. It's not just that ice is difficult to navigate when driving, but there's always some idiot (usually a dude bro in a truck) who thinks they can speed around people without consequences, leaving devastation in their wake. *rolls eyes*
