“So, how’s country life?”
Harry smiled. “Brilliant, actually. Severus can brew to his heart’s content, and the sunsets over the lake are gorgeous.”
“So domestic,” Ginny teased. “I’d never have predicted such a life for you.”
Harry shrugged. “It works for us.”
“Just like life in the city works for us.” Ginny eyed Harry speculatively. “You could visit, you know. Neville’s quite the cook.”
“I’m sure he is.” Harry pursed his lips. “I didn’t think he’d be too comfortable with Severus, though.”
“Oh please.” Ginny rolled her eyes. “Neville’s over all that. So...dinner?”
Harry nodded. “I’ll check with Severus.”

“It has the potential to be a very awkward evening.”
Harry frowned. “Because of Ginny, you mean?”
“No, because of my clandestine affair with Longbottom,” Severus deadpanned.
Harry smiled, recognising Severus’ insecurity. “I married you, remember? I’m spending my life with you.”
Severus snorted. “Indeed. Yes, I had noticed that, in fact.”
Harry wrapped his arms around Severus. “Then why would it be awkward?”
“I terrorised them during my year as headmaster, Harry. I did many things of which I wasn’t proud.”
“But you saved their lives, too,” Harry reminded him. “Trust me, they know that.”
Severus sighed. “We’ll see.”

Dinner went well. After the first few awkward minutes, Neville opened some homemade wine, lightening the mood, and when Neville mentioned growing his own wine grapes, Severus requested Neville take him on a tour.
“Snape’s mellowed,” Ginny murmured as she and Harry watched them examining Neville’s grapes. “Life with you suits him.”
“Suits me, too,” said Harry.
Ginny nodded. “You seem happy.”
“I am.” Harry smiled.
“Good. We were worried about you after the war.” Ginny grinned. “So, someone mentioned babies--”
“Hermione told you?” Harry groaned.
Ginny chuckled. “Nothing’s secret in our family.” She kissed his cheek. “Good luck.”
“Thanks.”
~
“That wasn’t so bad, was it?” Harry asked when they arrived home. “You seemed to have fun.”
Severus hummed. “It was pleasant enough. Although you should know, I saw Ginevra kiss you.”
Harry chuckled. “Yes, I guessed that. But since neither Ginny nor I were hexed, I assumed that meant you realised it was innocent.”
“Indeed.” Drawing him close, Severus lowered his mouth to Harry’s, treating him to a searing, sensual kiss. When he raised his head, Harry was panting. He smirked. “That kiss, however, was not.”
Harry smiled. “I know. Life with you has definitely taught me the difference.”
