“Thank you for meeting with us without an appointment, Madam Whitcomb.”
Whitcomb eyed them suspiciously. “What can I do for you, gentlemen?”
“My husband and I are contemplating adoption, and thought it best to meet with you first,” Severus said, tone even.
Harry, beside him, tightened his fingers on Severus’.
Whitcomb’s expression softened. “Of course.” She smiled. “You’ll forgive my concern, but when a Ministry official appears in one’s office, one does get concerned.”
Sensing a turning point in the interview, Harry leaned forward. “Oh no, we’re simply prospective parents.”
She nodded, relaxing more. “Then let me show you around.”

Upon arriving home, Harry collapsed onto the sofa. “That was exhausting.”
“Indeed.” Severus settled beside him. “How do people make this decision?”
“No idea.” Harry turned to look at Severus. “If it’d been up to me I’d have taken them all.”
Severus smiled. “Adopting ninety children is hardly practical.”
“I know.” With a sigh, Harry leaned against Severus’ shoulder. “But did you see their faces? Who could pick just one? Or two?”
“Two?” Severus sounded slightly strangled.
Harry smiled. “Theoretically.”
“We should defer this decision,” Severus murmured. “Keep trying.”
Harry nodded. “Definitely.” But the idea of adopting wouldn’t leave him.

Date: 2013-06-03 01:17 am (UTC)Yes, I think Harry would be especially concerned about orphans and would want to take them all. *pets him* Severus is a bit more practical but I think even he's having some thoughts about adopting more than one child. :)

Date: 2013-06-03 01:19 am (UTC)Thank you!
And don't worry about their happiness, hon. I am not a believer in needless angst. :)

Date: 2013-05-31 09:03 pm (UTC)No, I expect it won't. If there are two things Harry need, they are to save people and to have his own family. Well, I better make that three things as I have no doubt the third thing Harry needs is Severus!

Date: 2013-06-03 01:21 am (UTC)But yes, it's as you say. Harry has a powerful need to save people, and to be able to save babies AND get a family seems like a win/win to him I imagine.
Thank you, my dear!
