Wearing Purple

Severus stared at the robes, clearly horrified. “No.”
Harry coughed. “They wouldn’t be my first choice either, but I’m not the one in charge of this party.”
“Harry, they’re purple.” Severus tilted his head. “And fluffy!”
“I think that’s why she likes them.” Moving closer, Harry embraced Severus from behind. “Hey, it could be worse.”
“How, exactly?”
“Her favourite colour is pink, remember?”
“Salazar.” Shaking his head, Severus sagged in Harry’s arms. “Absolutely no pictures or Pensieve memories are to be made of me wearing this...monstrosity.”
“I can only speak for myself when I say absolutely.” Harry kissed Severus’ neck. “Ready to put it on?”
“No.”
“I love you.”
“Indeed.”

Standing at the door, Harry got misty as he watched Severus and Lily have their tea party. Severus actually looked quite stately in his purple robes, although Harry would never say that aloud.
The Floo sounded and Ginny emerged. “Hey, is Lily ready?”
Gesturing for her to be quiet, he shook his head. Stepping up beside him, Ginny looked and, seeing Severus with Lily, gaped. “Is he--?”
“It’s their monthly tea party.”
Ginny shook her head. “He’s wearing purple.”
“Yes.”
She smiled. “He really loves her.”
“Yes.”
Severus looked up and, upon seeing Ginny, said something to Lily, who, upon spotting her mother, beamed and, jumping to her feet, raced over. “Hello, Mummy! I’m having tea with Sev’us.”
Ginny nodded. “So I see. Are you ready to go home, baby?”
“Yes.”
As Lily started to gather her things, Severus rose and walked closer. “Ginevra.”
Harry held his breath. Ginny could be unpredictable.
Reaching up, Ginny kissed Severus’ cheek. “Thank you for taking care of my baby.”
Severus froze. “Indeed.”
Exhaling, Harry smiled, tucking his hand into Severus’ arm. “We’d love it if she could visit more often, actually.”
Ginny sighed. “I suppose we can discuss it.” She glanced at Severus. “I can see she enjoys her visits.”
Once they were alone, Harry pulled Severus over to the sofa. “So wearing purple wasn’t that bad, was it?”
“Perhaps not,” Severus murmured. “Although next time you’re wearing it.”
“That’ll be up to Lily.”
Severus sighed. “Yes, I suppose so.”
