Making Their Escape

“She’s such a busybody,” Draco huffed.

Potter grinned. “Really? Have you met my best friend?”

Draco bit back a laugh. “Right,” he deadpanned. “Speaking of, isn’t that Granger?”

Potter spun. “Damn. Yes. Give us a moment? I suspect I’m about to be subjected to some tender loving care, Hermione style.”

Remaining seated, Draco watched Potter intercept Granger. They held a hushed, furious conversation, which, given Granger’s expression, Draco was glad he couldn’t hear.

When Potter returned he seemed calm. “Ready?”

Draco coughed. “We don’t have to--”

“Yes,” Potter interrupted, grasping his hand and pulling him to his feet. “We do.”
