Revelations
~
Severus entered St Mungo’s quickly, ignoring the mediwitch who tried to intercept him. He was half-way down the hallway before he spotted Weasley. “Where’s Harry?” he snapped.
Weasley blinked. “Snape? What are you doing here?”
“I’m here for Harry,” Severus gritted out. “Where is he?”
“How did you even know--?”
Spying Granger emerge from a room, Severus side-stepped Weasley, moving towards her.
“Wait!”
Ignoring him, Severus reached for the door.
“Oi! Only family and close friends are allowed!” Weasley’s wand was drawn.
Severus’ eyes narrowed. He’d move heaven and earth to get to Harry. Weasley couldn’t stop him.
“Ron! Wait!”

As Granger and Weasley conferred, Severus entered the room. Harry, pale, lay in the centre of the bed.
The door opened, Granger walking in. “You’re Harry’s lover, aren’t you? The one he’s been keeping secret?” As Severus remained silent, she exhaled. “I thought so.”
“I admit nothing,” Severus sneered.
“You don’t have to because you didn’t deny it.” She smiled. “And I saw your face when Ron tried to stop you coming in here. You were prepared to move heaven and earth to get to Harry.”
Severus huffed. “No comment.”
“None’s needed.” She hummed. “Take all the time you need.”

When Harry woke to see Severus seated beside the bed, he smiled. “Hey.”
Severus exhaled. “Finally. You almost made my heart stop!”
Harry linked their fingers. “Sorry to worry you.”
Severus snorted. “You live to worry me.”
Harry frowned. “Wait, how are you even here? Who notified you?”
Severus coughed. “I...monitor you. When you were attacked I came--”
“And moved heaven and earth to get here, probably.” Slowly, Harry smiled. “I guess people know about us now, hm?”
“Indeed.”
“Good. I never wanted to keep us a secret, remember?”
Severus sighed, recalling Granger’s smug face. “Too late for that.”

Date: 2014-03-29 01:02 am (UTC)I liked the intensity with which Severus stormed down the hospital corridors and I'm definitely relieved that Hermione showed up when she did, or poor Harry would have woken up to the terrible news that his lover had put one of his best friends in the hospital, too. :)
I liked Hermione's insightful certainty that Severus' non-answer was indeed a confirmation of their relationship, and I'm sure that whatever discomfort he felt in exposing himself to everyone was well worth the delight Harry showed when he finally woke up to find him by his side. This was a lovely and romantic piece, ali, and I enjoyed reading every word of it. :)
