I think Ron can be an underrated character, and I decided that he'd be most likely to recognize that Severus needed the light, since, he, too, needed the Deluminator at a dark time in his life. :) And yes, I think one of the Deluminator's purposes is to help people who are in the dark, so perhaps it worked to help Severus pass it on to someone who needed it more? Maybe that was another thing Albus imbued in it. :) I am so thrilled I could give you a smile, my dear!
