I liked the idea that they were not only not in contact, but that neither of them had actually any intention of ever acting on their feelings. That made the fact that they got together because of those howlers feel all the more like poetic justice to me. Poor Romilda... she accomplished precisely what she set about to prevent and, in the end, the one who'll end up losing is her...
