So I am way behind on posting this and I'll prolly forget a bunch of things, but I thought I'd best do a Misticon wrap up before I head back to work tomorrow and have no time to even breathe much less compose a post. *exhales*
Right, here goes:
Day 0:
In which
lilyseyes arrived in my town to hang out. We went to sushi, which was yummy, and then stayed up watching Rise of the Guardians (which I love and which she hadn't yet seen).
Day 1:
We had to get up relatively early to leave, but everything was on time, and we got to Boston about 3 ish.
dementordelta was already there but in another terminal, so she just came and found us at the renal car counter, where we had our squee-filled reunion. *g*
Then, after entering the hotel's address into Google maps, we were off.
We did hit some rather pesky traffic on the way, but we still made it in time for the welcome thingy, the highlight of which for me was running into old friends like
andreanna,
ravenna_c_tan,
gatewaygirl,
ragdoll,
its_art,
tjs_whatnot, and
islandsmoke and, of course, sampling the specialty drinks. The SOS (Sex on Snape) totally won that contest. :)
After dinner at the Chinese restaurant next to the hotel, we went back to the Snarry Suite&trade and essentially crashed.
Day 2:
After breakfast at the diner (mmmm, blueberry pancakes), we did our usual grocery store run, but since this time we had all flown, we didn't have our usual Snarry-centric decorations available, so also did a decorations run and put up some mild decorations and declared ourselves open for business. *g*
We also made it to several talks that day including one by
logospilgrim and we also saw Wizarding Family Feud (OMG, hilarious).
After a stop in the common room, which overlooks the lake, we went in search of lobster rolls and found them. I had been dreaming of them, so this was a good thing. :)
We then briefly attended
drinkingcocoa's Diogenes club then went back to the Suite for some R&R.
That night was the Roast of Harry Potter (also hilarious), followed by Whose Wand is it Anyway, a parody of Whole Line, and it really worked.
Day 3:
This was the opening of the Wizarding World Fair , and the best part of that IMO was all the kids who were gaping at the cosplayers. Dumbledore and Vladimir Snape were especially popular.
After a couple of turns around the tent, where I saw more old friends (
foxestacado, eee!) and bought more HP themed jewelry and another wand (what? A girl can't have too many wands, can she?) we went for lunch at the pizza truck, where we ran into the special guest, Chris Rankin, who is a really down to earth, lovely bloke. He has a great sense of humor and was even wearing a Snape detention shirt.
Then we went to his Q and A (during which I got to meet
_hannelore (eee!), followed by the Snape-a-Holics meet that afternoon, where we all confessed our Snape obsession and chatted about what he means to us. Vladimir Snape joined us and we had a rousing discussion about prejudice and bullying.
That evening was the
daily_deviant meetup, where I got to hang with some old friends, like
r_grayjoy, and meet some new fen, like
akatnamedeaster.
After a brief stop at the Leviosa meetup, where I ran into the always lovely Lita Skeeter, we went back to the Suite for social hour. :)
Day 4:
Another diner breakfast (yay for the 10% wizard's discount!) we went to the Common room to look through Madam Malkin's robe offerings, after which we went to Fanfiction Theater. You guys, Fanfic theater was hi-fucking-larious. *g* Just to give you an idea, there was even a HP/Twilight crossover reenactment, as well as a Snape does everyone (but Ron) skit.
My face hurt from too much laughing after that.
After attending another Chris Rankin Q and A, we went to Vladimir's session on Anti-bullying, and then stopped for more lobster rolls before returning to the Suite to primp for the ball, to which I wore a Slytherin inspired Mediaeval dress I got at my local Renaissance Faire. *g*
Since we had all this leftover food and wine, we invited everyone back to the Suite after for libations and at one point I'm pretty sure we had 25 people hanging out. :)
We even got a chance to chat with one of the con committee members and so we gave him our suggestions for Misticon 2017. *g*
Day 5:
We had early flights, so, sadly, we had to leave before the Leaving Feast, but we did manage to hug a few people goodbye before we left.
After leaving Delta to go to our terminal, Lily and I found our gate and, after a few switches, managed to get on our plane.
Happily, the flight to Boston was uneventful, as was the cab ride to the Capitol Hilton, where, after a yummy dinner in the hotel, we crashed.
Day 6:
After we went to the National Law Enforcement Memorial and stopped in at the National Museum of the American Indian and the Air and Space, we had dim sum, and then went back to the hotel to prepare for the DC HP fangirl meetup!
We met
torino10154,
magnetic_pole,
emynn, and
treewishes at a restaurant in Union Station (The Thunder Cafe) where we drank sangria, ate yummy food and talked about rimming and fisting, you know, all the normal things you discuss over dinner. *g* They must have seen us coming because they made sure not to seat anyone else nearby.
After closing down that restaurant we went to another, closed that one down and then, finally, hung out with Emynn at her train station gate.
Then, after more hugs and goodbyes, we returned to the hotel.
Day 7:
We went to the Basillica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (what? I'm Catholic and I wanted to see it), and it was well worth a visit.
After a delicious Italian lunch, we returned to the hotel where we met
zeitgeistic and her SO (HCGS) for drinks and dinner. They are an adorable couple and it was the perfect way to end our trip. Although, now that I think about it, HCGS had a drabble assignment...*checks LJ*
Day 8:
My plane was delayed 3 hours! Eek!
But I did finally get home that night and crashed. Zzzzzz.
Day 9:
As it happens,
celandineb happened to be in my part of the state the day after I got back, and she suggested dinner, so we got to hang out, eat dinner, and watch Guardians of the Galaxy. And so we come full circle. *g*
Bottom line, I had a lovely time and I can't wait for Leviosa next year. Who else is going?
