It's always easy to think that everyone would simply accept that Severus has been fighting for the 'light' side since he turned on the Death Eaters once he learned that they would target Lily, and that everything would be all right after the war.
Severus is one of the most complex and morover human characters I have ever come across (that's why I love him so much), with many bad habits and character traits, who - when it counts! - can and does make the right decisions and carries them out. (This makes him very much a hero in my eyes.) So, it's both unusual and (actually) good to see you showing a scene how it probably would have happened in real life. (Plus, we get to see a bit romantic hand-kissing, yay!) ^^
