Overdue Recs
May. 25th, 2012 08:32 pmSo I've been holding on to some Thon recs, and my only excuse for not posting them sooner is that crazy work week was crazy. BUT, since crazy weekend will prolly be even crazier, I'd better get it done while I can.
Fics:
The Meanest Flower is 18,267 words of NC-17 Snarry goodness. But don't allow the warnings to scare you away, this lovely story features a Snape and Harry who are very much in love and devoted to each other. Of course there's a wrench in the works; Harry develops a fatal, hereditary disease, one that requires a blood donation from a willing relative. Naturally that's not easy to obtain, Petunia being the way she is, but that doesn't stop an increasingly desperate Snape from approaching her. The author handles the Snape and Petunia interactions with delicacy and grace, and by the end I actually felt some sympathy for her.
And this Harry was just wonderful. *hugs him*
This was a beautifully written piece that I highly recommend.
Best Laid Plans. 23,000 words, PG rated.
I love the premise here. As no doubt happened in canon *g*, Harry manages to save Snape and he squirrels him away in Grimmauld place to nurse him back to health. I like the Trio saving the day, but the substitution of George and Molly for Ron and Hermione here was, I think, genius! Also? The scene between Molly and Snape was beautifully handled.
The plot was fun, Kreacher was a hoot, and there were lots of delightful little details that made me smile throughout.
Do check it out!
Arts:
Harry Potter and the Little Prince. G rated.
This is an adorable, yet emotional and heartbreaking piece that's filled with promise for the future. The color and style made me stare for a long time and every panel is just packed with gorgeous emotion.
A Benevolent Presence. G rated.
This beautiful piece gives us a revealing glimpse into Severus' thoughts. Of course, he's thinking about Harry, worrying about him performing his task, perhaps, or simply hoping for his safety. This is another piece where the use of color is superb.
That's it for now! Go forth, read, and admire! And, as always, if you see something you enjoy, do leave the creator some love.
