Harry was nervous. “Have I forgotten anything?” he asked, scanning their home with a critical eye.
Severus sighed. “I’m not sure anything we do will change the outcome.”
Harry blinked, realised that Severus was even more nervous than he was. Inexplicably, the knowledge steadied him. “I’m sure it’ll be fine.”
Severus’ reply was interrupted by a knock at the door. After squeezing Harry’s hand, Severus opened it. “Great-Aunt Agnes. Welcome.”
Agnes Prince sniffed. “Severus.” She peered suspiciously at Harry. “Is that Potter? Still involved in this modern love business, I see.”
Harry exhaled. It’s going to be a long day.

“...more tea?” Harry offered solicitously.
Agnes’ eyes narrowed. “Are you trying to butter me up, boy?”
“He’s just being polite, Great-Aunt,” Severus interrupted. “Your cup is empty, after all.”
Agnes snorted. “I’d prefer more of those chocolate digestives.”
Harry rose but Severus beat him to it. “I’ll go.”
Eyes wide with consternation, Harry watched Severus walk into the kitchen. Clearing his throat he said, “Would you like a tour of the house? The view of the lake--”
“What I want is for Severus to live a proper life.” She huffed. “Princes don’t do modern love.”
Harry’d had enough. “Mine does.”
~
To Harry’s surprise, Agnes smirked. “Finally,” she said, eyeing him approvingly. “I was beginning to wonder if you’ve any life in you at all.”
Harry blinked. “Excuse me?”
Agnes sighed. “Severus needs passion in his life, Mr Potter. He needs someone to stand up to him, to argue. Milquetoast won’t cut it for him. No, he needs a--”
“Lion?” Severus said, tone dry as he stepped through the door, digestives in tow.
Agnes snorted. “This isn’t about Houses, Severus, it’s about love.” She snagged a biscuit. “And yours, while thoroughly modern, seems to be thriving.”
Severus smiled. “Indeed it does.”
~
“That went well.” Harry was still rather surprised at how well. Once Agnes warmed, they’d had a lively conversation. She’d even expressed approval about their plans to have children.
“Indeed.” Severus finished undressing. “Coming to bed?”
“Definitely.” Sliding in beside Severus, Harry doused the lights, curling close. “It was a long day.”
“It was,” agreed Severus, caressing Harry’s back. “So, are you...tired?”
Harry smiled. “Not that tired,” he murmured, slipping his thigh between Severus’. “I’ve some energy left.”
“Good.” Severus kissed Harry, a serious kiss that quickly had them panting. “I’m in the mood for some modern love.”
“Brilliant.”
