A Night in London
~
Harry stared at Ginny. “A night in London?” He shook his head. “Didn’t you hear what I just said? I don’t think our relationship is going to work out--”
She waved her hand impatiently. “Oh I already knew that, Harry. It’s been obvious for ages.”
Harry frowned. “It has?”
“Of course.” Ginny stood up. “Now come on. If we hurry we can still meet up with the others. Grab onto this chipped teacup.”
“But--” Reflexively, Harry reached for the cup and a moment later the unmistakable tug of a Portkey had him. Closing his eyes, Harry clung for dear life.
~
“Where are we?” asked Harry, looking around. “It looks vaguely familiar--”
“It should,” said Hermione, walking up behind him. “This is where I brought us that night we had to escape Bill and Fleur’s wedding.”
Harry nodded in recognition. “Oh, right!” He looked back and forth between Hermione and Ginny. “Why are we here?”
Chuckling, Hermione clasped his arm. “Because we decided you need a fun night in London. You’ve been working far too hard.”
“But--”
Ginny, taking his other arm, smirked up at him. “Don’t you know better than to argue with us?”
Since Harry did, he shut up.
~
When they walked into the club, Ron was waiting for them. “There you are!” he said, looking relieved.
“Did you think we’d abandoned you alone at night in London?” Hermione teased, leaning up for a kiss.
Ron seemed to cling to her. “The thought crossed my mind, yeah.”
“What is this place?” asked Harry, his mouth hanging open as he looked around.
Ginny shot a triumphant look at Ron. “See something you like?” she asked Harry.
Harry licked his lips. “Er--”
Hermione patted his arm. “Why don’t we get a table?”
“But it’s a gay club!”
Ginny grinned. “We know.”
~
“How long?” Harry asked.
“Have we known?” Hermione smiled. “Years.”
“She tried to tell me before we dated,” Ginny said softly. “But I wasn’t ready to listen.”
Harry looked away from her. “Guess I wasn’t ready to acknowledge it either.”
“Well,” said Hermione briskly, “everything’s sorted now and we’re out for a night in London. Ron, get us drinks, please?”
Ron grimaced. “By myself? Must I?” he whinged. “It was bad enough waiting here alone for you.”
“Oh, for--” Hermione stood. “Wait here.”
“No,” Harry said. “I’ll do it. We’re here because of me, after all. What would you like?”
~
“Two cosmopolitans, an ale, and a Firewhisky,” Harry said.
The bartender, crouched below the counter, waved a hand in acknowledgement.
Harry leaned against the bar to wait. The club was crowded and there were several very fit men dancing. Shame I seem obsessed with Snape look-a-likes. He sighed. I’ve great friends. I can’t believe they planned a night on the town in London for me.
“Your drinks,” the bartender said, his voice whisky smooth. It sounded familiar and, blinking, Harry spun, eyes widening when he recognised who it was.
“Snape?”
“Potter.” Snape smirked. “Finally admitting to being gay I see.”
~
“I...yes. But--” Harry couldn’t believe it. “We thought you died!”
“Obviously not.” Somehow, Snape appeared younger. He was wearing black, his hair pulled back into a sleek tail. He looked...delicious. “Being familiar with the Dark Lord’s...practices, I prepared for many eventualities.”
“A bezoar?” Harry asked.
Snape chuckled. “And anti-venom. I even had an emergency Portkey in my shoe. As soon as you left I activated it. I ended up here in London that night.”
“Well I’m glad you survived, sir.” He grinned. “I guess being paranoid paid off.”
Snape nodded. “Indeed.” He gestured. “Your drinks.”
“Right. Thanks.”
~
“You want us to leave you here alone?” Hermione smiled. “You met someone!”
Harry coughed. “Sort of.” He inclined his head towards the bar.
The moment she realised who she was seeing, Hermione gasped. “Dear God! Is that--?”
Harry nodded. “In the flesh.”
“But how--?”
“Apparently, he prepared for Voldemort’s betrayal.”
Hermione’s eyes narrowed. “And he let us think--”
“Which is why I’m staying to talk to him.”
She huffed. “This wasn’t the plan for your night in London.”
“I know.”
Her eyes softened. “You and your Snape obsession. Fine! Just...be careful.”
Harry smiled. He’d known she’d understand. “Always.”
~
“Abandoned by your friends already?”
Harry shrugged. “They knew I’d be safe enough.”
Snape looked around at the even more crowded club. Apparently Friday nights in London were popular. “Safe? Here?”
“I can take care of myself,” Harry said.
Snape hummed noncommittally.
Harry pursed his lips. “Are you saying it’s dangerous here?”
“I’m saying that newer patrons are often...targeted.”
“For what?” Harry asked. “And by whom?”
“For seduction.” Snape smirked. “By more experienced patrons.”
“What if I don’t mind?” Harry asked.
“And if I do?” Snape shot back.
Harry smiled. “Guess you’ll have to make me a better offer.”
~
“Wow.” Harry watched the club from the Disillusioned, glass office above. “Nice view.”
“Owners privilege.”
Harry blinked. “You own the club?”
“Indeed.” Snape moved towards a sleek glass desk. “But really, it practically runs itself, so I bartend, experience the club first hand so to speak.”
Harry shook his head. “But you run a successful club in London. Shouldn’t you be out...enjoying nights on the town or something?”
Snape shrugged. “I prefer to stay in. I never was especially social.”
“We’re socialising,” Harry pointed out.
Snape stared at him for a long moment. “So it would seem. Drink?”
“Sure.”
~
Liquor made Harry bold. “Is this you seducing me?” he asked after his third glass of brandy.
Snape laughed. “This is me protecting you.” He inclined his head towards the club below. “They’d devour you.”
“And if that’s what I want?” Harry whispered.
Snape raised an eyebrow. “To be used and discarded?”
Harry blushed. “To have a fun night in London without...consequences.”
“Ah, Potter.” Draining his drink, Snape stood. “There are always consequences. The only question is, are you prepared to deal with them?”
Something in his eyes made Harry shiver. “Yes.”
Snape held out a hand. “Then come.”
~
Snape’s bed was unexpectedly soft. Snape, however, was very hard. And very talented. By the time they were done, Harry was sated and exhilarated. “Bloody hell,” he whispered.
“That bad?” Snape murmured, sounding amused.
Harry chuckled. “Are you mad? It was brilliant.”
“So have I made your night in London somewhat enjoyable?”
“Any more enjoyable and I won’t be able to walk,” Harry joked. He caressed Snape’s back. “So’s this your usual way of protecting unwary patrons in your club?”
“Certainly not. Generally I just watch from the sidelines.”
“Not this time,” Harry murmured.
“No.” Snape sounded surprised. “Apparently not.”
~
“Thank goodness!” Hermione exclaimed upon seeing Harry’s face in her Floo. “I was about to mount a rescue mission!”
Harry blushed. “I’m fine. Brilliant, actually.”
“Brilliant, hm?” Hermione said. “Your conversation was that good? So, what did he have to say for himself? Why’d he pretend to be dead?”
Harry coughed. “We didn’t really discuss that.”
Hermione raised an eyebrow. “You spent an entire night in London with Snape and you ‘didn’t discuss that’?”
“No. Which is why I’m staying here for a while. We’ve lots to...discuss.”
Slowly, Hermione smiled. “As do we when you return.”
Harry nodded. “Fine.”

*nods* Severus does seem destined to protect Harry, but, as you say, it IS good for them. *g*
And thank you for the lovely comments! You're always so kind! :)
