Conference Agenda

~

“Harry’s here to see you again.” Poppy frowned as Severus shook his head. “Couldn’t you just--?”

“No,” snapped Severus, quashing his guilt.

“He saved your life! At least--”

“I’ve no desire to see him,” lied Severus. Not now that he’s probably engaged to that Weasley chit. “If that’s all--”

Poppy huffed. “Minerva had a board of governors meeting and she asked me to give you this, Headmaster.” She handed him a parchment. “I believe she’s suggesting you attend as Hogwarts’ representative.”

Severus read the parchment. “The International Potion Master Conference?” He nodded. Just the thing to help me avoid Potter.

~

Severus emerged from the Floo, dusting off his robes. A welcome witch approached. “Professor Snape?” She handed him a packet filled with parchments. “Your information. Please wear your identification at all times during the conference. And please enjoy our special guest.”

“Special guest?”

The witch smiled. “Yes. We’re quite proud. He’ll be presenting the plenary session.”

As she turned to greet the next attendee, Severus scanned his parchments, frowning. I wonder who this special guest could be? Then, shrugging, he put away the envelope. I’m here to enjoy myself, and enjoy I shall. With the war over, I finally can.

~

Severus attended several conference sessions, most of them illuminating. Others, like Belby’s, were boring, but Severus was accustomed to faking enthusiasm. I’m not sure how scintillating a speaker I’d be at almost one-hundred and thirty.

The plenary session was packed, everyone jockeying for seats. Evidently the surprise guest was an open secret, although no one seemed inclined to inform Severus of their identity. Resigning himself to some politician, he seated himself toward the back of the room.

“Welcome, Potions masters!” greeted Barnabas Keddle. “We’ve a rare treat today. Join me in welcoming the saviour of our wizarding world, Harry Potter.”

~

“Wasn’t Potter’s speech excellent?”

Scowling, Severus pushed past the people clustered around Potter, who smiled. “Hullo, Professor!”

“Potter.” Grasping Potter’s arm, Severus dragged him towards a corner, abruptly interrupting whatever conversation he’d been having with a pretty witch.

“Is something wrong?” Potter murmured once Severus had him pinned in a corner.

“What d’you think you’re doing?” Severus snapped.

Potter raised an eyebrow. “I was talking to Belinda--”

“At this conference, you dolt!”

Potter pursed his lips. “Did you miss my talk? Shame, really. I was rather proud of it--”

Severus growled. “Explain yourself!”

Potter smirked. “Guess you’re ready to talk?”

~

Severus’d always known it would be a mistake to do anything social with Potter. He was too...tempting, and far too beautiful. Nervous, he sipped his brandy. And add alcohol--

“...avoiding me?”

Severus blinked. “What?”

Potter sighed. “You’ve been avoiding me for months. Why?”

Severus coughed. “Perhaps it’s escaped your attention, Potter, but I’ve a school to run.”

Potter leaned forward. “I see Minerva, Neville and Hagrid all the time. You’re the only one who avoids me.”

“We’re talking now.”

Potter smiled. “Good thing I made this conference, then, hm?”

Suspicious, Severus’ eyes narrowed. “You planned this!”

Potter grinned. “Naturally.”

~

“But why?” Severus asked.

For the first time all evening, Potter seemed nervous. “First, to thank you for all you did for me...for us during the war.”

Severus looked away, disappointed. “Ah.”

“And because I fancy you.”

Severus almost choked. “I won’t sit here and be mocked--”

“I’m not!” Grasping his hand, Potter clung. “I’ve fancied you for ages. But you wouldn’t talk to me, so--”

“You stalked me to this conference.”

Potter shrugged. “I was desperate.” He sighed, releasing Severus’ hand. “I suppose you’re not interested--”

It was Severus’ turn to clasp Potter’s hand. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

~

They stumbled back to Potter’s room, which Severus noted was larger than his, and upon arriving, began to snog. “Can’t believe we’re actually doing this,” Potter whispered as they tumbled into bed together.

“This isn’t what I thought I’d be doing at this conference either,” admitted Severus on a gasp as Potter straddled him. And when Potter started to ride him, Severus could hardly credit it.

With a shout, Severus came inside Potter, and, moments later, Potter shuddered through his orgasm before collapsing atop Severus. “Brilliant,” he whispered.

Severus had to admit, it was the best conference he’d ever attended.

~

There was no awkwardness the following day. Probably because of how Potter woke me, Severus thought, smiling.

“What’s so funny?” asked Potter, nibbling his toast.

“Just...recalling this morning.”

Potter’s gaze heated. “Wasn’t it brilliant?”

Severus blushed. “So, you never said. Why did you agree to speak at this conference? It can’t all have been because of me.”

Potter smiled. “Most of it was. Although it’s also a job interview. Several Hogwarts governors are here, and I need a job.”

“What do you want to do?”

“Other than shag you?”

Severus coughed. “Yes.”

“Teach.”

Severus smiled. “That can be arranged.”

~

“How was the conference, Severus?” asked Minerva on his return.

Severus inclined his head. “Tolerable.” The sessions I actually attended.

“Excellent.” Minerva pursed her lips. “I hear Harry gave the plenary session.”

“Indeed.”

“And how was he?”

Severus flushed. “His talk was...adequate.” His private performances were stellar, however.

Minerva smiled. “High praise. Perhaps this shan’t be as difficult as I anticipated.”

Severus raised an eyebrow.

“The board’s offering him the Defence position. Since I know you’ve had your differences with him--”

“Oh,” Severus interrupted, smirking. “We’re adults. We’ll manage.”

She nodded. “Excellent.”

Severus smiled. And manage very well indeed.

Best conference ever, isn't it?
Love when Harry is stubborn and sneaky. And he made conference just because he wanted to speak with Severus. He doesn't fancy him. He loves him, and loves him very much.
And Severus' thoughts when he were speaking with Minerva - brilliant.

Oh yes, they'll manage all right: the question is, how will everyone else manage? *smirk*

*snickers* Minerva just knows. She is fairly sneaky of course.
But at least Severus enjoyed himself and Harry got what he wanted *snickers*
