“You can’t save everyone, Harry.” Hermione’s expression was sympathetic.
“I know.” Harry sighed. “It just feels as if I should be able to do more, you know? And you should’ve seen those children at the orphanage--”
Hermione nodded. “Ron and I discussed adopting early in our marriage, but then Rosie came, and she’s such a handful that we gave up that idea.”
“I understand.” Harry bit his bottom lip. “But I have to face the fact that I may never get pregnant. If only I knew the future--”
“Don’t give up.” Hermione said. “Keep trying.”
Harry nodded. “That’s the plan.”

“What’s this?” asked Harry when Severus handed him a phial later that night.
“A new formula,” Severus said. “I thought we could test it out tonight.”
Harry smiled. “Sounds good.” When he downed it, however, he shuddered. “If only it tasted good.”
“So brave,” murmured Severus, pulling him towards their bedroom. “I know just how to reward you for your courage.”
“Yeah?” Harry grinned, awful potion already forgotten.
“Indeed,” purred Severus. “Now, shall we...begin?”
“Are we doing a Molly manoeuvre tonight?” Harry asked as they undressed.
“No.” Severus pulled him close. “Let’s go back to basics.”
Harry smiled. “Brilliant.”
