Lips pursed, Kingsley watched from his concealed position. They’re not losing much sleep, he thought, observing Petunia and Vernon.
Dudley, however, seemed a different sort. “Any word on Harry?” he asked Hestia. When she shook her head, he sighed. “I’m keeping a journal. Thought it’d be nice to...write about things, you know?”
She nodded. “Don’t use his full name, though. It could be...dangerous.”
Smart witch. Kingsley watched as they reentered the house. Perhaps Dudley deserves to know what’s happening.
Waiting until everyone was asleep, Kingsley waved his wand. “Accio Dudley Dursley’s journal.” Time to leave him a message.
~
As far as Kingsley knew, Dudley never told anyone about the messages. He visited every two weeks, and, ensuring Dudley was asleep, he’d Accio his journal, making an entry.
The day after Harry defeated Voldemort, Kingsley appeared at the Dursleys’ makeshift home. Exhausted, he knew he had to release Hestia. And let Dudley know about Harry.
Surprisingly, Dudley was waiting. “I knew you’d come. You always do.” He exhaled. “Is Harry okay?”
Kingsley nodded. “He won the war.”
“Good.” Dudley moved closer. “Please don’t stop visiting.”
Kingsley frowned. “Why?”
Dudley smiled. “It’s safer with you watching.”
Kingsley smiled. “We’ll see.”
