The Prediction

Severus yawned. He was supposed to be reading tea leaves, but the incense the Divination professor was burning made his eyes itch.

“What do you see?” breathed his work partner.

Severus groaned. Sybill was the reason he wasn’t partnered with Lily. As the ‘top’ Divination student, she’d offered to tutor Severus. Unfortunately, the professor had agreed.

Severus stared longingly at Lily, who was giggling with other Gryffindors.

“Snape?” Sybill persisted.

Severus rolled his eyes. “The Grim?”

Sybill pursed her lips. “One day I’ll make a prediction you’ll have to pay attention to!”

Ignoring a chill, Severus snorted. “I doubt that.”
