Tantalising Technology

“I’m sorry.” Harry’s expression was penitent. “Robards taking over the Department means we’ve been having a lot of unexpected meetings.”
Severus sighed. “So you’ll be late?”
Harry nodded. “Sorry. Trust me, I was looking forward to relaxing at home with you tonight, too. It’s been a long week.”
“Indeed. So when should I expect you home?”
“After nine.” Harry smiled. “Hey, at least it gives you a chance to play with your new prized possession.” His smile turned mischievous.
Severus rolled his eyes. “Have a lovely meeting,” he said, tone dry.
Blowing him a kiss, Harry severed the Floo connection.

Severus eyed the mobile phone suspiciously. A gift from Harry, it was a prototype of technology WWW wanted to market. It ran on both electricity and magic, and the Department of Magical Law Enforcement were already considering purchasing some for their investigators.
Turning it over in his hands, Severus sighed. What am I supposed to do with this, anyway? Harry thought it could be useful for Severus’ research, but he couldn’t see how. Prized possession indeed.
Bored, he tapped on the screen, pursing his lips as it lit up. Bending close, he peered at it. Potion research, hm? Let’s see--

Severus didn’t even hear Harry get home, he was so engrossed. It was only when Harry embraced him, kissing his neck, that Severus looked up, surprised. “Meeting’s done already?”
Harry nodded. Leaning in, he eyed the mobile. “You finally opened it.”
Severus coughed. “I wasn’t about to let this thing thwart me.”
Harry laughed. “I knew you could do it.” He nuzzled Severus. “So, does this mean you’re planning to use it?”
Severus snorted. “Don’t get carried away.”
“But this is how obsessions start,” Harry teased. It could become your prized possession.”
“I’ll show you possession,” Severus growled, tackling Harry.

“Severus surprised me,” Granger said.
On his way into the kitchen, Severus paused to eavesdrop.
“In what way?” asked Harry.
“He was texting in Diagon Alley last week.” Granger chuckled. “I did a double-take.”
Harry hummed. “When I got the mobile for him I teased him about it being his new prized possession, but I really think he loves it. Plus, it is nice being able to communicate with him while working or during meetings.”
“Harry!” Granger coughed. “Don’t tell me you’re both sexting.”
Harry’s silence was incriminating. Severus smirked. He had to admit, mobile phones did have their uses.
