Neville had just donned his formal robes when the Floo sounded. “Neville?”
Entering the living room, Neville smiled. “Harry! How are you?”
“Brilliant,” Harry bit out, clearly anything but. “Look, are you attending today’s photo shoot at the Daily Prophet? ‘Heroes on Parade’?”
Neville rolled his eyes. “Yeah. Why?”
“Mind if I go with you?”
“No.” Neville frowned. “I thought you’d made other arrangements--”
“Nope,” Harry snapped. “I’m on my own and was hoping for some company.”
“Erm, sure. See you soon.” Neville sighed once the Floo closed. Evidently Harry and his mystery lover were fighting. This should be interesting.
~
“Finally, our heroes.” Skeeter gave Neville and Harry a slow once-over. “You boys clean up nicely.”
“We’re here for a photo shoot,” said Neville.
Skeeter hummed. “Through there, boys.”
Sensing her eyes caressing him as he passed, Neville shuddered. Harry, beside him, muttered, “You’d think the Daily Prophet would’ve sacked her by now.”
“They’ll never get rid of her,” Neville muttered. “Fortunately, Luna’s doing our photo shoot.”
Harry, however, was too busy glaring at Snape to reply. Neville blinked. “You and Snape?” he whispered.
Harry huffed. “Not any more.”
Neville sighed. It was going to be a long day.
~
“Maybe you should talk to him,” Neville suggested after minutes of Harry and Snape glaring at each other across the room.
Harry huffed. “No. He wants to pretend we don’t know each other. He’s ashamed of me.”
Harry’s voice had carried and Snape, evidently hearing him, rose and started walking towards them. Neville bit his lip. “Apparently he plans to talk to you.”
Looking determined, Harry stood, facing Snape, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife.
Oblivious, Luna skipped in, carrying a camera. “Oh, good. Ready for the Daily Prophet pictures?”
Neville coughed. “We may need a minute.”
~
Luna tilted her head. “Smile, please.”
Neville tried, wincing as shouting continued in the conference room. “Shouldn’t we...intervene?”
“Why?” asked Luna, fiddling with her camera.
“They could hurt each other.”
Luna hummed. “Those we love the most can hurt us,” she finally agreed.
Neville gaped. “Love?”
“Mmhm.” Luna focussed the camera on Neville’s face. “They’ve been together for ages.”
Neville frowned. “Why’s Harry been so secretive?”
“Snape’s shy.” Luna smiled. “I had to swear it was the Daily Prophet who wanted these photos before he’d agree to pose.”
“They aren’t official photos?”
Luna smiled. “No. These are for me.”
~
Neville blinked. “Excuse me?”
Setting down the camera, Luna walked towards him. “I want a picture of you for myself, and the Daily Prophet wants a picture of Harry and Snape before they get married.”
“Married?” Neville felt as though he’d entered an alternate universe. “They’re getting married?”
“Eventually.” Reaching up, Luna looped her arms around Neville’s neck. Neville’s arms automatically went around her waist. “Probably after we do, though.”
Neville shook his head. “Luna, we’re not even dating.”
Luna hummed. “Don’t you want to?”
Neville started laughing. “Er, sure?”
She smiled. “Good. Because it’d be odd kissing you otherwise.”
~
Kissing Luna was distinctly not odd. It was, in fact, quite enjoyable. Perhaps a bit too exciting for the Daily Prophet offices, however. “Luna,” he murmured against her mouth. “Maybe we should do this elsewhere?”
“Probably,” Luna agreed. Slipping out of his arms, she picked up her camera. “I just need Harry and Snape’s picture.”
Neville frowned. The shouting had stopped, but still... “Be careful--”
Luna opened the door, revealing Snape and Harry snogging. Snapping several photos, she closed the door. “Right, time to go!”
Neville choked. Snape won’t be pleased. He grinned. Life with Luna wouldn’t be dull. “Definitely!”
