Explaining Miracles
~
Severus surveys the controlled chaos that is Advanced Potions. While these students are skilled, they’re not masters, hence his vigilance. “Less heat, Billings!” he snaps.
Billings adjusts accordingly, and Severus exhales.
Through the class he strolls, conducting his potions orchestra. There’s no talk, just the clink of stirring rods against cauldrons. Severus loves this. He’s master of his domain. All is well.
Looking up, he sees Harry at the door. His footsteps falter. Of course, that’s when Phillips’ cauldron sputters. “Phillips!”
Phillips fixes it and everyone relaxes.
Mouthing “Later,” Harry leaves.
Severus sighs, wondering what chaos awaits him at home.

“How was Advanced Potions?” Harry asks when Severus gets home.
“Productive,” Severus says. “How was Defence?”
Harry grins. “Stephens almost blew me through a wall.”
Alarmed, Severus inspects him. “You appear uninjured.”
Harry laughs. “I’m fine. All those years of chaos, first from teachers trying to kill me, and then in the Auror corps, makes me hard to surprise.”
“I suppose so.” Severus relaxes. “Was there a reason you visited my class today?”
“I wanted to see the master at work,” murmurs Harry. “You’re sexy when you teach.”
“Only when I teach?”
Harry hums, embracing him. “All the time, actually.”

They make love right there in the living room and it’s chaos. Hands and mouths and tongues are everywhere. Severus loves it. Harry’s the most uninhibited lover he’s ever had, and he revels in being with him.
Afterward, sated, they lie tangled together in a pile of limbs and stained clothes. Severus, formerly the most fastidious of men, is content.
“Do you ever wonder how we ended up here?” Harry whispers.
“On the floor in our living room?” Severus quips. “No. I was there. As were you.”
“Git.” Harry snorts. “I mean here. Together.”
Severus smiles. “There’s no explaining miracles.”

Date: 2013-12-03 09:12 pm (UTC)I liked the aura of contented domesticity that runs throughout this work. The boys are happy together and there's nothing more worrying than lessons on the horizon for either of them. That's the perfect place for them to be... Wonderful work, ali. I enjoyed every word of it. :)
