Ali's Fic Year in Review: 2013

alisanneSo this may be the latest in January I've ever posted this review. I've been holding out to see if the ability to Xpost to IJ from DW would return, but it's still not working, sadly, so life must go on. :(
And even though there have been a bunch of reveals from the recent holiday fest season those won't be included here. This just covers the things I wrote and had posted in my journal for 2013.
Fortunately I was spared from illness this holiday season, so I was able to stick to my ambitious writing schedule for the most part (pls to be ignoring the still on-going![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)

January
In which I wrote 46335 words.

daily_deviant fic, A Bit Too Exciting (Sirius/Tonks), my Kinky Kristmas fic, Neville in the Library with Feeling (Neville/Draco), the stories I did for mini_fest: Mistletoe Mayhem (Snarry), A Family Christmas (Percy/Luna), The Dating Game (Neville/Ginny) and my hd_holidays story, Knockturn Alley Patrol (Harry/Draco).
February
This month was a bit less wordy, coming in at 17960 words.
Especially fun things to write were What a Game (Harry/Draco), Finding Excitement (Draco/Astoria fordaily_deviant), and Keeping Secrets (Snarry for ![[insanejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/ij-community.gif)
severus_sighs's Anti-Valentine's Day fest).
March
In which I had 17240 words.
Things of note: Prisoner Interrogation (Harry/Draco), To The Letter (Snarry forhp_getlucky), and A Worthwhile Hobby (Snarry for daily_deviant).
April
This was a slower month with 14020 words.
It was also the month I came very close to not managing a DD fic, although I finally squeaking in at the end with Runic Reunion (Neville/Blaise). Whew!
May
Here I scraped by with 13700 words despite the distraction of Misticon. *g*
Writing wise things seems a bit better. I did a couple of fun stories including Pub Night (Snarry fordaily_deviant), and Larger Than Life (Snarry for snape100 that kinds...grew).
June
This month's numbers ( 25475 words) got a boost because of couple of fests.
I was especially pleased with myhp_beholder fic Flint: Staff Reporter (Marcus Flint/Dudley), Only Right (Harry/? for daily_deviant) and Making Things Official (Snarry for snape_potter's Pride fest).
July
This month wasn't too bad with 28405 words.
The most fun to work on were The Case of the Green Goo (Ernie Macmillan/Justin Finch-Fletchley fordaily_deviant), a fic I mentioned recently as part of the Snowflake Challenge, Of Cakes and Shrubbery (Draco/Harry), my hd_smoochfest submission, His Lucky Day (Harry/Draco, Scorpius/Albus Severus) and a fic I wrote for no other reason than I wanted to write it, Waiting to Dance.
August
This is when things usually slow down, and this year was no different with 19653 words.
My most under-appreciated fic posted this month I'd say. I dunno what it is about Ginny, but my Flist just doesn't seem to like her. *shakes head* Or maybe I don't write her well? Either way, mydaily_deviant fic this month, An Evening in the Park (Blaise/Ginny), was...a bust. ;) Oh well, they can't all be winners.
September
Numbers stayed about the same as August, coming in at 18345 words.
This month I wrote a couple fun things including Friendly Disturbances (Viktor/Susan, Severus/Harry fordaily_deviant), and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Snarry for snarry100).
October
In which things picked up slightly with 18650 words.
This month featured me getting back to my slash roots with The Tunnel of Love (Harry/Draco fordaily_deviant, At a Snape's Pace (Snarry for snape_potter's First Time for Everything Fest), Playing (Dragon) Ball (Charlie/Draco for sassy_cissa), and The Project (cat!Snarry *g*).
November
This is usually a rough month since most of my energy is usually going to Holiday fests, but I did manage 15985 words.
I had particular fun with Oog, Groog, Ugg (or How Harry got to Shag like a Caveman for Hallowe’en) forhd_fluff's Fluffy Halloween), and The Art of Boasting (Drapery for daily_deviant).
December
Which, happily, wasn't as dismal as 2012's. I had an ambitious schedule, as I usually do at this time of year, and I managed 41450 words.
This was the month of Holiday series, so I'll just point to a couple.
I can't even express how thrilled I was to finally finish the H/D series I started back in 2012. A Christmas Wish was originally forslythindor100's 25 days of Christmas but when I fizzled out last year I knew I'd have to make it especially exciting to make up for last year. I feel as if I managed that with this set. :)
In addition, I also cobbled together a short Snarry series foradventdrabbles called The Spirit of Christmas.
I won't mention the H/D series I am still writing, although it is close to done, so...
And that's it! Now to add up the numbers.
277218 words.
Significantly less than usual to be honest (about 80K less), but I'm not surprised. This has been a rough year personally and professionally, with not a lot of time to spare for my hobby. But I'll take it. :)
As for resolutions...
Meh, the usual. Be more grateful, have fun, write more unusual stuff (for me), take on a couple of fun projects (I'll be posting more about those in a bit) and just...enjoy myself more.
