Achieving Resolution

~

At the insistent knocking of the Floo, Draco finally dragged himself out of bed and approached. He glanced at the clock on the mantel, smothering an oath at the time. This is not the way I’d hoped to start the new year. Kneeling down, he opened it. “For Salazar’s sake, Pansy,” he growled. “Do you know what time it is?”

Pansy smirked up at him. “Of course, darling. And I even know what day it is. Happy New Year!”

Draco pinched the bridge of his nose. “It’s seven in the morning! On New Year’s Day. I only saw you at Blaise’s party a couple of hours ago.”

“I’m well aware.” Pansy hummed. “And I’ll have you know I haven’t been to bed yet.” She coughed. “Well, I should amend that, I haven’t been to sleep yet.”

Draco sighed. “So this is all so you can gloat over some conquest? Honestly, Pansy--”

“I’m not gloating. And don’t think I didn’t notice you left with Potter.”

Draco coughed. “Pans--”

“Relax, this isn’t about you and who you choose to sleep with. For once it’s about me.” Pansy’s expression sobered. “And I went home with Theo. We’ve finally--” She blushed. “Anyway, so this isn’t some random conquest.”

Draco raised an eyebrow. Pansy had been in love with Theo for practically all their years of school, and he’d always suspected Theo harboured feelings for her, too. “Well it’s about time.” He smiled. “Congratulations.”

“Thank you.” Pansy lowered her voice. “Anyway, I need a favour.”

“What is it?”

“I want to make him breakfast.”

Draco blinked. “Pansy, you can’t cook.”

“Well I know that!” she snapped. She looked back over her shoulder for a moment. “But one of my New Year’s resolutions is to be more domestic.”

Draco snorted. “Since when do you make resolutions?”

“Since this morning. Shut up, you. You’re not the only one who can make them, you know.” Pansy huffed. “Anyway, so will you help me or not?”

“How can I help you? Do you want me to cook it for you?”

“No, I was just hoping you had some supplies.” She blushed. “And that you could tell me what to do. After all, how hard can it be to do a full English?”

Draco groaned. “Hard enough. And sorry, all I have are holiday leftovers, so unless you want to serve him champagne and mini quiches, you’re out of luck.”

“Damn.” Pansy frowned. “You were my last hope.”

“You already called Millicent?”

Pansy shook her head. “Don’t be ridiculous. She’s even less domestic than you are.”

Draco sighed. “All right, look, maybe you should start with something simple. Like coffee.”

“Coffee?” Pansy frowned. “That’s not breakfast.”

“It’s a start.” Draco pursed his lips. “Here’s what you do. Go back in there, seduce him, and then say you’re too hungry to cook and suggest you go out to breakfast.”

Pansy blinked, then smiled. “Brilliant! Thank you, darling! That’s perfect.”

“Of course it is.” Draco rolled his eyes. “Goodbye, Pansy.” He smiled. “And Happy New Year.”

After closing the Floo, he stood up and padded back to the bedroom. Potter was sitting up, braced against the headboard. He smiled as Draco approached. “Everything all right?”

“Pansy.” Draco slipped under the covers. “I do have some needy friends.”

Potter rolled on top of him. “I couldn’t help but overhear what she said about resolutions.”

Draco moaned as Potter’s clever fingers slipped between his legs. “I...may have made a couple, yes,” he managed.

“So did I.” Potter scraped his teeth along Draco’s neck, sending a shiver of pleasure down his spine. “I’ll share if you will.”

Winding his arms around Potter’s neck, Draco arched up against him. “Get more exercise,” he gasped.

Potter hummed. “Looks like we’re off to a good start, then, hm?” he murmured, fingers sliding against Draco’s hole. Draco was still loose and as Potter fingered him, he writhed, urging him on with half whispered words.

They moved together slowly, Potter sliding into him fairly easily. He set up a smooth rhythm and soon, both were coming, Draco crying out as his muscles rippled around Potter.

Potter came moments later, his face buried in Draco’s neck, and as they recovered, he whispered, “So I take it we’re going out for breakfast.”

Draco laughed softly. “Unless you want champagne and mini quiches, yes.”

Potter hummed. “Maybe later. I think we’ll need a bit more fortification than that for what I’m planning.”

Raising his head, Draco stared into Potter’s eyes. “Oh, what are you planning?”

Potter grinned. “Your new exercise programme. After all, it’s the least I can do to help you with your resolutions this year.”

Draco licked his lips. “Have I mentioned my other resolutions?”

“Not yet.” Potter’s arms tightened around him. “I can’t wait to hear about them.” He closed his eyes. “But maybe a nap first, yeah?”

That sounded heavenly to Draco. With a hum of agreement, he closed his eyes, too. “Happy New Year, Potter.”

“You know,” Potter yawned. “I really think it will be.”

Draco smiled. So do I.
