Letters of Love
~
As always, Severus’ letter arrived at four o’clock precisely. Harry smiled as he read it.
“Another love letter from Snape?” Ron leaned back in his chair, shaking his head.
Harry raised an eyebrow. “Who says it’s a love letter?”
“Please.” Ron snorted. “You get this goofy look on your face when you read them.”
Rolling his eyes, Harry tossed him the parchment. “Go ahead. Read it, then.”
Picking it up gingerly, Ron read it, pursing his lips. “Huh. Guess it’s not.”
Summoning the parchment, Harry slipped it into his pocket and smiled. “Now, maybe we should get back to work?”
~
When Harry got home, Severus was cooking. “Hello,” Harry said, embracing him and kissing the back of his neck.
“Welcome home.” Waving a Stasis Charm over the food, Severus turned to kiss Harry properly. When he raised his head, Harry was panting. “Was your day satisfactory?”
“Yes.” Harry smiled into his eyes. “I got your love letter.”
“My what?” Severus blinked.
Harry grinned, extracting the parchment. “This letter.”
“Your definition of a love letter differs from mine,” said Severus, eyebrow raised. “That’s the note I send every day so you’re aware of our evening plans.”
“I’ll read it to you.”
~
“Unnecessary,” Severus said. “I wrote it.”
“Humour me.”
Severus snorted. “Don’t I always?”
Smiling, Harry began reading, “‘Dear Harry.’ See? I’m ‘dear’ to you.”
Severus hummed.
“‘I’m preparing dinner tonight.’ Meaning you love me enough to cook for me.”
Severus’ arms tightened around Harry, but he remained silent.
“‘No need to shop on your way home.’ You’ve taken care of everything.”
Severus rested his cheek against Harry’s hair.
“‘Don’t be late,’ meaning you missed me.” Harry slipped the parchment back into his pocket. “See? A love letter.”
Severus flushed, looking embarrassed.
Grinning, Harry kissed him. “It’s all right there.”
“Indeed.”

Date: 2014-06-07 10:55 pm (UTC)And you're right. I suspect his next note to Harry will be carefully composed, although I've no doubt Harry will easily interpret that one, too. *g*
Thank you, my dear!
