Jun. 21st, 2014 12:53 pm- This seems especially appropriate since it's world cup time. :)
- This made me rethink what poverty means in this country.
- One of the best responses to being called 'names' that I've seen. I was grinning by the end.
- This woman tells us why she's a feminist and she makes me want to cheer and cry at the same time.
- Here's an idea. Maybe it's not dogs who need to be rescued, but us.
- I shivered after watching this. The power of willful ignorance is incredible indeed.
- And finally, street flyers that made me laugh. Number 30 provided me the answer to a question about which I've long wondered. Where DO the bad guys find their minions? ;)
Happy weekend, everyone!

Date: 2014-06-22 01:28 pm (UTC)I've seen some of the responses to "poor people shouldn't..." on tumblr, and it gets me every time. I also see not all of those stories being from the US. Poverty doesn't stop at borders.
That troll-response is lots of fun :)
Feminist lady Laci Green rocks :) I hadn't seen her before, but that was an impressive amount she said in a very short time.
I LOVED the human rescue programme! Gosh, that's just perfect.
The odd thing about that food thing is that I wasn't surprised or shocked. I thought it was pulling the punches. Maybe it's because I've already taken stands on this, maybe I've absorbed more knowledge than I thought I had, but I don't consider myself knowledgable about food production. But it this is that shocking to people, the ignorance is even greater than I thought. It's been going around for a while now, and I keep having this reaction, so now I'm writing it down. Am I the odd one out or how?
That no. 30 was great, but 13 also got a laugh here.

Date: 2014-06-28 09:08 pm (UTC)No it doesn't. And people (including, sadly, me) make assumptions. This made me rethink those.
Heh. Innit, though? ;)
IKR? She is AWESOME.
Those poor humans looked like they needed rescue. *pets and cuddles everyone*
I think we all subconsciously know that something like this is happening but we don't want to actually deal with it, so we bury it and don't think about it. After all, what can one person do, right? Although if we ALL decided enough is enough then I think we could accomplish a lot. But we need momentum for this movement, like everything. The time will come eventually I think.
Heh. 13 was also amusing, yes. *g*
