Not to panic anyone, but [personal profile] dreamy_dragon73 brought this post to my attention, and reading it makes me concerned that the LJ TOS is more far reaching than any of us imagined. I'm especially perturbed by the bit talking about them being authorized to modify/add images/amend content without notification. :/
Given that possibility, I'm contemplating no longer xposting my stuff to LJ at all. *sigh*
Any thoughts?

If User participates in any rankings or if User’s Content is used in any editorial projects of the Service,

I do agree it sounds ominous, absolutely but that, to me, doesn't sound like they can just get in to any post. Does it?

(On my way out the door--will catch up with you when I get home. <3 )

Er, that ominous. I'm sure it's in response to Russian bloggers they want to silence, but just because it's not necessarily directed at me doesn't mean I feel good about that at all.

I'm not sure what to do... It's definitely disconcerting. I'm considering changing all of my LJ journal fic posts to headers only with links to DW and AO3. The problem with this would be that I then can't continue to import my comments from LJ over to DW as I think it would revert the post to match the LJ version? The other problem is I have 108 of them :P

Yeah, I'm definitely getting very sceptical. I saw this post at The Mary Sue as well, and it does indeed sound very ominous. And also makes me not really tempted to support LJ's platform anymore. Not sure what do do at all D:

TbH I haven't posted Fanfic on LJ for a long time, it is all on Ao3, and I am only reading on LJ to catch of communities are moving to DW. especially with the amount of stories /drabbeles that you create who is to say that they won't misuse any of this?

That doesn't really surprise me. Since they moved the servers to Russia, stricter controls on content has been inevitable. With their government's view on homosexuality (amongst other things, of course) it's only a matter of time before they start deleting/censoring - probably under the guise of housekeeping at first, getting rid of inactive comms & journals.

On the positive side, at least there is a relatively painless way to export to Dreamwidth, and a lot of fic is hosted on AO3. If we act now, we can save much of the LJ back catalogue.

It's a wrench to make that change to a new platform but I, for one, want nothing to do with a service that suppresses freedoms of speech of any kind.

The more I read, the more I feel like I'm mostly concerned with supporting (though I'm not giving LJ any money since I have a free account) LJ as a business. This is their current "about us" which includes We believe in diversity, and we welcome and respect different opinions, different cultures, and different perspectives. If they're not doing that and actively silencing people, then yes, I will stop crossposting to LJ and will probably stick with DW as a fic/fest/journaling platform.

I do agree with you, all the same, that it doesn't mean I feel any less sad about it. LJ holds a lot of good memories and I do miss that.
