Yay, Olympics!
Feb. 8th, 2014 11:38 amSo I am in a recliner, watching women's Olympic figure skating, and life is good. :)
I've seen several reactions to the Sochi opening ceremonies. Here are my impression as I recall them.
- That little girl has a fabulous voice!
- Oops, technical difficulties with the expanding Olympic ring thingy. :(
- Wow, love that thing they did with the floor!
- Jamaica sent bobsledders! Eeee!
- When they did the Russian alphabet it made me realize just how language affects how people think. I always think I should be able to understand any human but I think the Russian mind set is completely different to mine, and that's okay, I just need to remember that. :)
- I didn't mind the whole red Soviet Russia business. It was visually striking, and it is a part of their history. It's not like they could ignore it.
- I didn't get the jellyfish ballet bit. *tilts head*
- By the time I got to the hanging figures bit (not sure what to call it), I was sleepy, so I confess, I fast-forwarded past it and the opera singer to the torch lighting, which I freely admit, always moves me.
- And speaking of being moved, am I the only one who choked up at the commercial about moms supporting their athlete children? *sniffs*
And now I am poised to watch Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski as they commentate the skating. BTW, fabulous ring, Johnny! :))
