Phoenix Pimping
May. 13th, 2008 05:36 pmWhy should you go read Team Phoenix fics? Click the cut and see why. ;)

Now that I have your attention, I have actually managed to read all the fics posted at the
snarry_games so far (except perhaps today's) so I am in good position to do a quick and dirty review of them. Be aware of possible spoilers.
So, without further ado, here's Ali's Team Phoenix Mini-reviews, in alphabetical order:
1. Abigail89 Seventy Times Seven" Word Count: ~16,678; Warnings; Summary: Auror Harry Potter finally gets his man, and Severus Snape learns the meaning of 'seventy times seven'.
This is a Harry as an Auror story (love those) in which he has to track down Snape (naturally). I like how the Auror Corps is described here and how conscious Harry is of trying to be mature. Oh, and the sex is worth reading! I really enjoyed this one. :)
2. Alisanne "Absolutely Unspeakable" Word Count: ~11400; Summary: In which Harry finally understands the motto: what happens in Unspeakable Bootcamp, stays in Unspeakable Bootcamp.
Hahahaha! Well, what can I say? If you like fluff and desk smex, this is for you. ;)
3. CruiseDirector "A Pastoral Interlude" Word Count: ~12,000; Warnings; Summary: On an unhappy Christmas Eve in Somerset, Harry finds the last person he expects to see cooking in the kitchen of an inn.
I really love how the author portrays the next generation, not because they're so happy but because they're flawed and so very human. I can see these pitfalls being very possible for them. Also? Harry gives the best speech I've ever read about why the Slytherin/Gryffindor rivalry is so very artificial.
4. DementorDelta "That Place in The Dark" Word Count: ~15,800; Summary: Severus Snape has survived the war and the Dark Lord, but he may not survive Harry Potter.
What can I say? Delta could write Snape's grocery list and I would read it, she's just that good. And this story was no exception. A gross curse makes Snape realize how Harry really feels about him, and the OFC she throws into the mix is the perfect foil for hot, delicious Snarry.
5. Eriador117 "The Ghost of Dursley Hall" Word Count: ~22,600; Warnings; Summary: Dursley Hall is rumoured to be haunted, but when Severus Snape becomes a tutor for Dudley Dursley, the truth is much more unexpected than that...
An non magic AU, this is a really atmospheric piece in which we see Harry rescued from evil. She throws in some exciting twists and turns and the ending had me on the edge of my seat. If you want a meaty mystery, this be it!
And that's it for now. I'll be back with more Ali mini reviews in a bit.
Also, while I'm on the topic of Snarry and Phoenixes, do take a look at the drabble that
iulia_linnea wrote for me today. *glee*
