Games recs

I don't usually do this, but I was chatting with
iulia_linnea today, bemoaning the fact that there should be more people reccing fic and she called me on it. She asked why I don't rec.
I gave her the usual excuses (I'm not a reccer, I'm not eloquent, I don't feel qualified, I'm a writer so it's up to others to do that etc.) but in the end, she's right. So, here you'll see the fics that I especially enjoyed from the Snarry Games. Keep in mind that this is just MY opinion, and that even though I did read almost every story in the Games this year I am certainly no expert reccer. Read if you feel inclined to do so and if you like the story, all I ask is that you let the author know.
Anyway, here goes. And I guess I had to do this anyway since I promised
sassy_cissa I would, so here's your list, sweetie! This should keep you busy for a day or so. *g*
1. The Truth of Legends By
babblingbrook42
Word Count: ~28,200; When Severus’s great uncle dies, he leaves Severus the estate and an unknown and unmentioned ward who is more than meets the eye.
It's AR, rich in detail and imagery and legend. It took me for a ride that I thoroughly enjoyed. :)
2. Getting Familiar By
gingertart50
Word Count: ~15,000; Summary: Snape has watched over Potter for so long that nothing from poisonous snakes and assassins to amorous doppelgangers can stop him. Eventually he's going to figure out why.
This is an absolutely hilarious fic with the BEST Snape inner voice I think I've ever encountered. Gingertart is rapidly working her way onto my fave Snarry author list. This was a joy to read.
3. One Down, Two Across By
josan
Word Count: ~22,291; Summary: When is a crossword puzzle not a crossword puzzle? When it leads Harry on an adventure.
This led ME on an adventure, that's for sure. This did brig up the question of what is "real Snarry" and I won't burden you with my opinion on that. All I'll say is that this was an epic story that it was clear a lot of research and attention to detail went into. Definitely worth reading.
4. Escaping the Paradox By
meri_oddities
Word Count: 35,706; Summary: After Harry is thrown back in time to 1971, he has several choices to make.
It's a time travel fic (LOVE those) in which Harry can correct some of the mistakes of the past, and in doing so improves (IMO) his own future. And I ADORE her Snape! THIS is how he should have been in canon.
5. And Malfoy Makes Three By
the_con_cept
Word Count: ~40,000; Summary: Snape completely misinterprets Harry's oblique hints about a baby.
The Concept is a master of hilarity, and this was no exception. I happen to adore these three together so I had no problem with this and really? In my mind this counts as Snarry even though I suppose it's Snarry Plus. ;) Anyway, if you want to have a smile on your face, read this!
6. The Sleeping Prince By
who_la_hoop
Word Count: ~41,600; Summary: It's hard to ignore your past — and impossible to do so when you can't remember your future. But a meddlesome portrait, a dragon with an ancient grudge and true love's kiss teach an unlikely Prince that a regrettable past doesn't have to mean an unhappy ending.
Gorgeous de-aging story in which Snape is so perfectly awful he's brilliant. I dunno how else to put it, just... go read! And if you're tender-hearted (like me) have tissues at hand.
7. That Place in the Dark By
dementordelta
Word Count: ~15,800; Summary: Severus Snape has survived the war and the Dark Lord, but he may not survive Harry Potter.
It's prolly well known that I am a Delta fangirl, but even if I wasn't this fic would have made me stalk the author. The smex, the h/c, the grossest curse this side of the Atlantic... Trust me, read it. You'll love it.
8. Exegesis By
femmequixotic
Word Count: ~49,150; Summary: Every culture has their tales regarding creatures of the night.
I keep saying how I don't like non-magic AU's and then I keep finding ones that I like. This was just brilliantly written. Somehow Femme manages to put the Snape and Harry that we love into a world with vampires. Just amazing storytelling.
9. His Green Haunting By
iulia_linea
Word Count: ~1665; Summary: Severus works with silver to understand green.
A short, stunning piece of writing that's haunting in its own right. I love the POV.
10. Imaginis By
leela_cat
Word Count: ~ 51,300; Summary: When children are threatened, Severus Snape does the right thing for once and finds himself saddled with suspended Auror, Harry Potter. Some people can't help but be themselves, while others appear to be someone else. And, in the middle of it all, a meddling portrait finds unexpected freedom and hope for the future.
Just a rollicking adventure fic with a mystery and some nummy UST. Loved it. Well worth the time it takes to read it!
11. Stillife By
pir8facier
Word Count: ~ 37,155; Summary: Snape is killed by Voldemort. But not really.
This is another epic in which Snape and Harry come to know each other over decades of misunderstandings and helping each other. Never mind the infidelity warning, read it. It's brilliant.
12. In The Time It Takes To Drink A Pint of Ale By
r_grayjoy
Word Count: ~6350; Summary: A chance meeting leads to the disruption of Harry's perfect life. Or, the road to epiphany is paved with pints of ale.
The most unique interpretation of infidelity I have ever seen. Loved it!
13. Second Life By
ziasudra
Word Count: ~17,750 words; Summary: After sending Lily off to Hogwarts, Harry realised he had a lot of time he could now devote to his Snape obsession. Set post-war, fully canon and epilogue compliant, including canon-compliant Harry/Ginny to the best of my ability—no Ginny bashing here.
Again, one of the most unique ways I have seen Snape brought back (not that I actually believe he died, mind you). And I love her Harry/Ginny relationship as well as her Eileen Snape. Well done. :)
