Establishing the Rules
~
As he did at the beginning of every year, Severus swept into the Slytherin common room. The entire room went silent as he outlined the rules.
After the usual explanation of Slytherin code, essentially ‘don’t get caught’, Severus turned towards Draco and gestured. Draco followed, clearly reluctant. Will he trust me? Severus wondered.
Once they approached Severus’ quarters, Draco began throwing looks Severus’ way.
“It is not the Dark Lord’s policy to forgive failure, Draco,” Severus finally murmured. “Whatever your task, do it or tell me, so I may.”
Severus watched Draco’s struggle patiently. In the end, trust won out.
