“I can’t believe Snape actually came.”
Severus froze, the habits of a lifetime kicking in. He remained hidden in the shadows, shamelessly eavesdropping.
“I can believe it,” Granger replied. “Why wouldn’t he?”
Weasley snorted. “You and Harry may think he’s changed, but I’m not convinced.”
“Ronald!” Severus winced at the shrill note. “Snape clearly adores Harry. Why else would he come to a party at your parents’?”
Why, indeed? Severus stepped away, rejoining Harry at the buffet table.
“All right?” Harry asked, a hand lingering on Severus’ back.
Severus eyed the juicy fruitcake Molly had made and smiled. “Never better.”
