Snapely Holidays 2010 recs
Jan. 14th, 2011 02:01 pmAs part of my trying to make up for being remiss for my lack of reccing, today I shall be reccing what I especially enjoyed from
snapelyholidays. I've already recced my fabulous gift in this fest HERE, so what follows are the other submissions of note I've seen since then. YMMV.
Just as a reminder, all stories feature Snape, who I know isn't everyone's first love (although I can't imagine why not *g*). ;)
Fics:
In the Shadow of Misery's Wings
Snape/Krum, 5400 words, NC-17.
*shakes head* I'm not sure I have the words to do this one justice. Gritty, intense, bloody sexy spring to mind, as well as broken, rough, raw and just plain mesmerizing. Not my usual descriptors, but this is definitely one you need to read to believe. Brilliant writing.
A Book of English Verse
Snape/Narcissa, 1776 words, G.
This story features gorgeous and masterful use of language all wrapped up in a beautiful, poetic whole. Seriously clever writing.
The End of the Masquerade
Snape/Black, 31,330 words, NC-17
A brilliant premise. There is a masquerade ball at Malfoy Manor, and Sirius and others in the OOtP decides to crash it to do some investigating. What Sirius wasn't counting on was the effect a well-crafted potion that makes his true feelings come to the fore.
The execution here is perfect, the sex beyond sizzling and the ending, which diverts nicely from canon, gives us hope for the future. Really fabulously done.
The Healing
Snape/Pomfrey, 5900 words, PG
I love this Poppy. So determined to save Severus, even from his own stubbornness. I also liked this portrayal of Tobias. Here he's not evil, just old and tired and hoping for a reconciliation with his son. A beautiful, gentle piece.
Right nor Wrong
Snape/Minerva, Filch, 11,800 words, NC-17
This is worth a read just for the mastery of Filch's voice alone. The author really nailed him here, and through his eyes we get a new look at the WW and the behind-the-scene events of OOtP.
The Ballad of Filius Flitwick and Severus Snape
Snape/Flitwick, 2900 words, NC-17
I am always in awe of those who can manage not just poetry, but brilliant poetry. This was fabulously done. If I try to quote some I'll end up quoting the entire thing, so just go read.
Found in the Moments Between the Search
Snape/Black, 26,500 words, NC-17
This story was so good I ended up reading in on my phone at stop lights on the way home after having started it at the dentist's office and being unable to put it down. Trust me, it's worth every second to read. Brilliant plot, nice reworking of canon and sizzling sex.
The Riddle of Severus Snape
Snape/Harry Potter, 9500 words, NC-17
Hilarious banter, fun plot, and a Severus who could finally 'meet' Harry without any preconceptions make this a must read,, especially for those who love Snarry.
Arts:
Exile
Snape/Lupin, G.
It would have been so lovely had this been canon. *sigh* This is a beautifully drawn rendition of how Snape and Lupin could have rescued Harry from the Dursleys. The emotion is clear, every nuance of their emotions shown. Just stellar work.
A Gift for You
Snape solo, R.
This artist is the master of the strategically draped sheet. *g*
I wouldn't mind finding this Snape waiting for me at home. Guh! And that come hither look on his face would be pretty hard for anyone to resist.
Seduction
Snape/Minerva, PG.
The implied discipline and sheer sexiness here made me shiver. And I WANT Minerva's dress. Guh.
Caught
Snape/Harry Potter, NC-17 (chan)
Completely hot and sexy image of Snape and Harry enjoying the benefits of Harry's Cloak. Mmmm.
Silverlight
Snape/Luna Lovegood, R
A haunting and ethereally beautiful image. Really pretty!
The Headmaster
Snape/Lupin, R
The artist has really managed to capture so many great details in this piece. The colors, the atmosphere, the sexiness are all wonderful.
Whew! Sorry about the long post, but I totally hadn't realized how behind I am on reccing.
And as always, if you see something you enjoyed, do leave the creator some love.
