Lubricus Report!
Jun. 21st, 2011 03:51 pmOkay, so I admit it. I've been trying to wait for my Snarry Suite rooommates to post a Lubricus wrap up so I could point to it/them and say 'yes, that', except it doesn't seem to be happening, so I guess you'll have to settle for my recollections. ;)
That said, several member of the Con Committee (
pennswoods,
chaeche,
samwise_sam, and
emmagrant01) have already posted some excellent summaries.
Anyway, here are my two cents
Wed: I had to work the day I left for Seattle, so I didn't get there until after 10. Luckily
lilyseyes had already procured our room, i.e. The Snarry Suite™ and was waiting. I discovered that the free shuttle, while free, was...shall we say slow? The 10 minute trip from the airport took 50. LOL. And while the driver was nice, the radio station his radio was tuned to gave me a terrible ear worm. Journey FTW!
When I finally arrived Lily had ordered room service, so we ate and chatted and caught up, and even managed a tiny bit of writing.
Thurs: We had breakfast in the hotel lobby (mmm, hot chocolate), ran into several con members including
oldenuf2nb,
amightypenguin,
lampblack,
samwise_sam, "Ginny", and
pennswoods, before our fabulous local guide and chauffeur for the weekend,
veridari showed up and we went to collect
dementordelta from the airport. We greeted Delta at the airport with a Hogwarts sigh (like you do) and then we all wandered back to the hotel, laughing all the way. You know the most wonderful thing about cons? I always laugh SO MUCH.
Anyway, Veridari had made us all Snarry Bears, so after some squeeing and cuddling of our bears, we had lunch (mmm, sushi) and then went (over)shopping for the suite. After unpacking and putting up the Snarry art in our connecting rooms aka suite, we went into downtown Seattle for a tour and a ramble around Pike's Market, where I got some gorgeous jewelry, and the most delicious chocolate covered cherries ever made. We saw the fish tossing guys, sampled everything in the market including, I suspect, ALL the baked goods, and then returned to the hotel buried under our purchases. Have I ever mentioned how much I love being able to ship things home?
We made it back to the Con Common Room to register and we ran into
tripperfunster, and we all went across the parking lot to the Vietnamese restaurant for dinner, because all the snacking I did in the market wasn't enough. Heh. Mmm, anyway, delicious chicken curry was delicious and at the table across from us were more con peeps like
djin7 and
drusillas_rain and
dacro to name a few.
We retired to the Con Suite for a while, watched a bit of gay porn, and then went back to the Snarry Suite todrink rest.
Fri: Programming! May I just say? I LOVED the programming for this con. I attended the Top Ten Slash Plots (hilarious), the Craft Fair was FAB (and I am vibrating with excitement at the thought of the Snarry commission that
glockgal is doing for me!), Slashing Harry Potter, Writers Block (got some great tips), Writing Sex in Slash Fic 9thank goodness Emma deciphered my handwriting), and then Lilyseyes and I did a drabble writing workshop, thank you to our fabulous attendees who made us look good. :)
After attempting a quick dinner in the hotel restaurant (I discovered that they do not do quick, btw), I ran to relieve Lily was hosting the HD meetup in the Snarry Suite. ;) I won a FABULOUS bit of art in the raffle, and I got to meet the utterly adorable
dysonrules (and rule she does!), as well as catch up with Oldenuf2nb,
alaana_fair,
winnett,
ineffably_roma,
bewarethesmirk,
littleblackbow, and many others. After they broke our bed (don't ask, heh) we relaxed, Professor Snape came to visit (and lounge on my bed for a while) and then we had some Snarry Suite visitors including the incredibly talented
foxestacado (who has a fascinating job), Tripperfunster, and Pennswoods aka Luna.
I'm old, so I skipped the pub crawl and the drag show and went to bed. ;)
Sat: The Art of the Peen with Tripper was OMG HILARIOUS! Peen through the ages. Heh.
Next was the infamous craftapalooza, in which it was again proved to me that I am not cut out to do crafts, even with Pennswood's expert assistance. Plus, the very generous
synn gave me her perfectly done crystal Hogwarts shield when mine didn't work. Then I made a little notebook (really Pennswoods had everything done ahead of time, all I had to do was staple it together) and I also made a bejeweled green potions bottle pendant. *glee* I am fond of green glitter I discovered. :D
Tripper, Synn, Veridari, Lily, Dementordelta and I went for dim sum for lunch, mmmmmmmm, and so we missed some programming (I heard that Fox's social justice presentation was awesome, as was
good_witch's weeping cock, lol). There was a bakery next to the dim sum place, so of course we had to go. Mmm, fruit tart.
We were back in time for hanging in the Con suite and for Finding HP Slash with and then the effervescent
roozetter joined us just in time for, you guessed it, dinner!
We went to Thirteen Coins, a fabulous Brat Pack style restaurant near the airport, that had cool booths and nummy martinis (and a very romantic story that I plan to turn into a Snarry at some point).
We got back in time to get dressed for the Blue Ball. I wore grey and black and green (what? I had blue underwear. ;))
The Blue Ball was FAB, with just enough people to make it fun. Dysonrules' outfit was so cute, and since she was a 'cop', with handcuffs and all, she was the best one to lead the dancing to YMCA. ;)
The silent auction was, well, silent, lol, and, since I'm old, I left early to go hang out in the Snarry Suite with Roo, Veridari, Lily and Delta. Sadly, that was when we had to take down the Snarry art *sniffs* andhugs our bears pack.
Sun: Early plane was early, so we said tearful goodbyes to the con and Veridari took us all to the airport, where Delta had toAK er Crucio beg the people at Delta airlines (no relation) to give her a seat.
I was home by 9:30 that night (losing time sucks) but with a happy smile on my face because of a con well loved. *g*
I know I missed mentioning people, and their names will occur to me as soon as I hit post on this, but know that I remember you all and miss you already. I really wish I could live in a con (especially a slash con, like this was).
Now off to the friending meme to add more people!
Also? Great job, Con Committee! I look forward to the next one! You all ROCK! ♥
