So guess where I've been the last few days. *g* At my local comic-con!
This was its first year and I bought the "Tom Felton Package", which I should tell you is why I was so excited to go. *glee*
This was its first year and I bought the "Tom Felton Package", which I should tell you is why I was so excited to go. *glee*
- The lovely
lilyseyes arrived at my city on Thursday evening and I picked her up at the airport. We had Indian food (mmm, korma and tikka masala), and then came home to watch movies. (I made her watch both Star Treks and Wreck It Ralph *g*).
- Friday we went to day one of Comic-con. After picking up our Tom Felton VIP tickets we set off to explore the convention's vendor floor, where we bought Scottish shortbread (yummers), Slytherin jewelry, and a gorgeous Tom Felton pic for him to sign. Yes, while we did get lithographs as part of our VIP packages, this picture was irresistible. *g*
- That night, the lovely
celandineb came up from nearby city to visit, and after we wandered about trying to find a place to eat that had a less than 90 minute wait *eyeroll* we finally decided on yummilicious pizza. :)
We then returned to my house, where we discussed muses and writing and fanfiction and stuff. *g* Sadly, Cel had to go home that night, but it was fabulous seeing her. ♥ - Saturday was our big conference day! We arrived about noon, in time to see the panel featuring Jon Bernthal and Scott Wilson from The Walking Dead. They were fun, and Jon was especially interesting. I could tell that he was just so grateful that this happened to him, you know? Which was very refreshing. :)
- Next came James Marsters, who was hilarious! And it was so weird to hear him talking in an American accent. I guess since I've only ever known him to sound British, it was a bit of a shock. He had some great Buffy stories, too. *g*
- After that was Robert Englund, who was simply a delight. We got to see a trailer for his new movie, Fear Clinic, which looked scary. *shivers* There were so many little kids at that panel, and he was unfailingly polite and generous in his responses. I can see why you adore him,
logospilgrim. :)
- Then came William Shatner. (Confidentially, I think he was a bit drunk. ;)). He was fairly amusing, though, despite a wee bit of an inappropriate interaction with a 17 year old audience member. :P
- And then it was the time we had been waiting for all day! First was the photo op with Tom (who was lovely, and who said he approved of my Slytherin apparel *gg*), and then came Tom's panel which was FABULOUS! We recorded the entire thing and I'm going to see if I can post it on You Tube *crosses fingers*
But, to share the highlights:
When someone asked Tom what his OTP was (we had to explain what OTP meant), he said, "Drapple." *g*
When someone asked him what House other than Slytherin he'd want to Sorted into he said, "No other House is worth it, I'd rather be expelled from Hogwarts." Heh. Slytherin to the core, that one.
When a girl in a Gryffindor uniform came to the mike, before she could speak he waved her off saying, "Next question." *giggles*
When a baby Harry Potter appeared at the mike (OMG, he was adorable, and all of maybe 4 or 5 years old), he asked a bit of a garbled question and turned away. So, to get him back to repeat the question, Tom said, "Oi, Potter! Get back here!" *g*
When another girl appeared in a Gryffindor uniform and said, "I'm not really a Gryffindor, I think I'm really a Hufflepuff", Tom replied, "That's not any better." Heee!
Like I said, these were the highlights, I'm going to do my best to post that actual vid. :) - And, of course, that wasn't all. THEN we got to get our stuff signed by Tom, who was a total delight. I'll post more pics soon, but just as a teaser, have one little look. *g*
Isn't he adorbs?
He's filming a documentary about fandom, so we even had a bit of a chat about fanfic on camera. ;) - There wasn't much that could top that, so we came home, had margaritas, and chatted about how fabulous Tom was! *g*
- Today we showed up about 12:30, in time for the end of a talk called "Why are fanboys so Mean?" which was pretty spirited. Makes me wish I'd gone to the entire thing. :)
- After sitting in on a talk about RPGs, we slipped out and went to a panel run by Eliza Dushku, who was surprisingly awesome. She's in school, so she talked about that, and of course we discussed Buffy and Dollhouse and She-Hulk. I am usually wary about celebrities, but she seemed pretty authentic.
- Then, after one last swoop through the vendor room, I took Lily to the airport, hugged her goodbye, and came home to watch the Dr Who finale.
So, in sum: I am impressed with my home town, I got to see
