Harry/Ron vs Snape/Harry?

So, I made my first foray into uncharted territory yesterday. I wrote Harry/Ron, and I liked it! *hears the gasps of her f-list*
It was for wolfiekins, but it was a bit of a personal challenge as well. I just wanted to see if I could, you know?
Anyway, he recommended I post it at harry_and_ron, which I did, and they have been just LOVELY there. Very welcoming and encouraging to someone who they'd never heard of, and It made me think. Perhaps it IS the fact that I write in more... antagonistic ships that accounts for some of the recent... problems I've seen? People who like Snape and Draco want darkness, maybe, while people who write in a gentler ship, based on people who are friends in canon, can appreciate fluff?
*sigh* Anyway, it's been an interesting dichotomy in attitudes.
