Hey, Flist! *waves*
Cut for tedious explanation about why Ali has been MIA lately )

As you were. :)
alisanne: (Default)
- Got up even earlier to ensure a spot for the Dr Who panel. Was initially scared when I was almost the same place in line as I was yesterday hen I got there an hour later, until I realized that people had been camping out overnight, and when they compressed the line, I would be a lot closer. I was. *g*
- Standing on concrete for 4 1/2 hours still sucks, though.
- Fringe. Great panel. It's going to be their last season and they hinted at upcoming plots. The actors were all so sweet, several times as they were talking about working on the show they started to cry. *sniffs* Really lovely. I can't wait to see what they come up with this season. Also? The actress who plays Astrid was just so sweet. :)
- Supernatural. I swear one of these day I am going to start watching this show. I've never seen an episode but every time I've seen them on a panel they are hilarious. They really do have fabulous chemistry together. The writers wouldn't give anything away, but the hints from the preview they played looked very exciting, and the gag reel made us all chuckle. And did I mention the great chemistry? ;)
- DOCTOR WHO! EeeeeeeeEEEEeeeee! Amy (Karen Gillen) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) came, along with the Doctor (Matt Smith) AND Mr Moffet himself, were a lot of fun. And it was nice to see the Ponds one last time. *sniffs* We got to see a FAB preview of next season, which apparently starts with Dinosaurs on a Spaceship. No really, it's the title AND it's what was in the clip we saw. *g* I also got some cute pictures of an adorable little boy dressed up as a TARDIS. :)
- I skipped out after that since I don't know anything about Game of Thrones and went to line up for the one HP panel I saw listed. It was all about the future of the franchise and, while the topics mentioned were mostly okay (theme park plans, Pottermore, wizard wrock, International Quidditch), I was so tired (plus, there was no discussion of the most important thing- Snarry) that I left about mid-way through.
- Dinner with the adorable [insanejournal.com profile] severa_snape at our "usual" fondue restaurant. Mmmm, cheese and chocolate, how can you go wrong?
- Now I'm back at the hotel packing and planing to go to bed. I'll be home tomorrow, yay!

And now, a letter to the organizers of Comic Con )

Gacked from [insanejournal.com profile] cruisedirector

This journal has no material today in protest of SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act), the bills which will allow the government censor the intenet. I am sure everyone knows that Wikipedia, Mozilla, Wordpress, and hundreds of other sites are going dark today in protest of the bills, which could be used to shut down all material on the web not generated by corporations with big money lawyers -- affecting everything from whether we can get unbiased news reports to how we share our own news and photos with friends. Though the House bill, SOPA, is closer to being stymied, the Senate bill, PIPA, has several dozen co-sponsors. Find out more at http://americancensorship.org and http://www.fightforthefuture.org.

Is IJ down for anyone else?
And does anyone have a clue what's going on there? Has Squeaky said anything?
*growls*
Don't they know I have a posting schedule?

LJ suckage

alisanne: (Default)
Okay, so is it just me, or is LJ being REEEEALY SLOOOOOW today? Like extra slow.
I had to try to post my DracoHarry100 drabbles about five times before one finally successfully posted.
Are those attacks still going on? Does anyone know?
Or is this just the way LJ is going to be from now on? *sigh*

Grr! Argh!

I am being spammed to death on IJ by someone named [insanejournal.com profile] kiss7, who supposedly has a suspended journal. I have deleted their comments and banned them repeatedly, and yet they are still able to comment on my posts.
What is the point of having the 'ban button' if it means I still have to go in after them to delete the comment? Shouldn't banning (and a suspended journal) mean they're unable to comment at all?
Grrrr.

OMG

Waaaaah!
I wanna be in Trafalgar Square right now, dammit! *pouts*
Why am I not THERE? *kicks work*
alisanne: (Default)
Ugh.
So may I just say? Crappy day is crappy. I really hate the start of long holiday weekends when I'm the only one working. Sadly, that seems to happen a lot. Maybe I should inspect my co-workers' vacation schedules a bit more closely?
Anyway, in an effort to remind myself that this, too, shall pass, I have come up with a few things to be thankful for. ♥

Thank you to the [livejournal.com profile] harrylovesdraco mods, who sent me a shiny medal for my LJ userpage for 'winning' this month's fic competition. Ooh, shiny!

Thank you also to my dear friends, [livejournal.com profile] sra_danvers, [personal profile] celandineb, [insanejournal.com profile] dementordelta and [insanejournal.com profile] accioslash for the yummy jelly beans, OM NOM NOM, and of course to my bb, [insanejournal.com profile] lilyseyes for the gorgeous orchid. *glomps and loves*

Also, I can happily report that I am now in possession of gorgeous Snarry art from [insanejournal.com profile] someoldcat! She sent me THIS, THIS, THIS, and THIS. *bounces*

So really, I have nothing to complain about, do I? I just have to make it until 5.
*sighs and goes back to work*

Oh, LJ, why is it that as soon as I have a spare ten minutes to xpost to you, you go down? (And not in the good way, either. :P)
Seriously? I thought we'd gotten to the bottom of this issue. (Heh.)

The way I see it, the only question now is how long until the LJ holdouts finally get tired of the crappy service, bite the bullet, and FINALLY emigrate to other journals. *waits*

Edit: And now the DW xposting function isn't working? Brilliant.

Grrr

Can I just say how tired I am of IJ not functioning? Especially at times when I really need it to work? Like now, when I need to claim my Snarry a Thon prompt.
*sigh*
Happily, the Snarry a Thon mods are (very wisely) allowing prompt claiming on LJ and DW as well as IJ, so I was able to claim my prompt at noon as planned.
*g*
I love Squeaky, but this is getting REALLY old. *grumps*
alisanne: (Default)
Argh! *tears hair*
IJ will be down another three hours according to Squeaky's latest update on Twitter. GAH!
I know I'm not the only one chomping at the bit, but this is just...grrr.

Today was supposed to be my [community profile] daily_deviant posting day, but that seems shot to hell now, especially since Squeaky has been promising to have IJ back up every few hours for about the past 24 and it hasn't worked yet. *sigh*

Anyway, there's clearly nothing I can do about it, although I do wonder if we shouldn't start mirroring DD on DW in the eventuality that this sort of thing keeps happening.

I also have other things to post and I'm contemplating just going ahead and simply posting stuff to the accessible journals. I suppose I can catch up with posting on IJ later (or next week, which is when it looks like it may actually be up at the the rate it's going).

Why didn't we all just switch to DW again?

Also? *pokes [personal profile] torino10154* This is the third day of the sucky people. I'm contemplating buying a sword.

Spam sucks

I've been resisting doing this because I don't want to make commenting difficult, and I know a lot of peeps who comment on my IJ stuff do so anon because they find it tedius to sign in, but I am being spammed within an inch of my life, so until further notice, my IJ is set to only allow comments from registered IJ users. Sorry. :(

Time for the weekly wrap up.
But first, a rant )
Anyway, on to the real point of this post.
Ali's list of fics: October 4th thru October 10th )
The things that are in the fic pipeline include:
Ali’s list of WsIP )

Up next, Snarry to soothe my ruffled feathers. ;)

So [insanejournal.com profile] thesewarmstars received an email from someone about one of her stories that had been reposted without her permission at ff.net.

Predictably (and reasonably, I though) [insanejournal.com profile] thesewarmstars's response is less than pleased.

You know what means, right? It means you all need to go check and make sure none of your stuffs have been stolen.
Seriously, are we going to have to go through this every few months? What is it with people? Is this such a difficult concept to grasp? *eyeroll*
alisanne: (Compuhate)
*is cranky*
So I know that in the grand scheme of things this is a tiny annoyance but it still makes me crazy.
What, you ask?
Well, I was over at [insanejournal.com profile] adventdrabbles looking thru the tags and community in preparation for this year, and I looked back at the fics I posted last year, only to find that about a third of the posts have no comments. Now I know people commented, I recall some of them very clearly, and I even have them saved in email, but it's not the same as seeing the comments there, you know?
Comment rot sucks. *pouts*

Another Monday, which means it's time for the weekly wrap up list.
The list is a bit short this week, mainly because I spent the majority of the last week putting finishing touches on my [insanejournal.com profile] hd_worldcup fic and helping my teammates with theirs. Now if only my Snarry muse would return so I could get my [insanejournal.com profile] snarry_games going...
Anyway, here's the list.
Ali's list of fics: March 10th thru March 17th )
And, here's that other list that never seems to get shorter.
Ali's list of WsIP )
And now for some fest ranting...
Maybe it's just me, but... )
So, am I the only one who feels this way?
alisanne: (bitch_pls)
Dear NYC cab driver authority people,

I would like to make the revolutionary suggestion that you insist that cab drivers should know the location of the place where they have been requested to take their passengers before allowing the airport dispatcher to sic them on unsuspecting tourists. A working knowledge of the english language would be a bonus, so that when the passenger, in a fit of desperation, suggests they call the location, they are then able to communicate with the person at the other end. Otherwise, the passenger is placed in the position of becoming the navigator and then paying ($75!!!) for the priviledge. No matter that the driver took the "scenic route" because of his own cluelessness.
The fact that the driver then insisted on a 20% tip was just the icing on the cake.
Oh, and no, I didn't make the wedding rehearsal I was supoosed to be at, thank you so much for asking.

No love,
Me
alisanne: (Bite_me)
You know, I'm getting tired of this sort of thing.
A few months ago I was alerted about someone who took it upon themsleves to keep a list of HP fics that they were distributing for the pleasure of their "friends" in PDF format. The stories were not theirs to distribute, of course, but since when did that stop anyone? Anyway, everyone was up in arms and the person slunk away.
Well, it's apparently happening again HERE. *eyeroll*
This time the fics are listed by title and not author, and you have to join a yahoo group to have access to the distribution list. Also, note the cover page art.
I recognize several pieces by authors who I know, like [insanejournal.com profile] sansa1970, [insanejournal.com profile] dementordelta, [insanejournal.com profile] calanthe_fics and [insanejournal.com profile] kit (on LJ [insanejournal.com profile] kit84) to name a few, and I recognized at least one of my stories there.
*sigh*
Is this so hard to understand? I know I can't control who has "copies" of my stories. Hell, who can? But why set up a list for distribution with no acknowledgement of the author, no way to check that the people who are accessing the fics are of age, no warnings, bla bla bla. How many time have we got to say it? It's fecking rude. Don't do it! GAH!
/rant.

All right. I guess I'll start by commenting and asking that she not distribute any of my stories that are on her list. And I suppose I need to notify ppl of this. Again. You know, this is why I can't get more porn written. Shit like this. Grrrr.

Edit: Apparently it was a misunderstanding and the list maker is taking steps to disband the distribution list. I think the overwhelming response of fandom may have had something to do with that. *sigh* I hate that we came down so hard on her, but really, it had to be made clear how strongly we feel on this.
alisanne: (Default)
I just came across something that's disturbing me, but I'm not sure what to do about it, so I need the opinions of my smart flist.
Someone linked me to THIS LIST and after getting over the initial shock of seeing several of my stories on it, I got a bit angry.
This person isn't claiming to have written the fics, yet it still makes me uncomfortable. There are no warnings and while there is an acknowledgement of the author, there's also the small matter of archiving someone's work without their permission. At least, s/he didn't have mine. At least s/he does give the page where they gacked it from, but still.
I see no contact info, so does anyone have any suggestions?
Who do I complain to?
Was anyone else aware of this?
