[community profile] hp_goldenage just posted the reveals for their 2018 Salt and Pepper Fest, which means I can now claim my story.

I wrote about a dramatic!Draco reacting to the news of his impending great grandfatherhood in The Making of a Great Great-Grandfather (here on AO3).
I must say, I really had fun writing this story, my only regret is I couldn't string it out longer because of fest deadline constraints. Dramatic and overreacting Draco never gets old as far as I'm concerned. *giggles*
I will be reposting it in a few minutes.

Anyway, if you haven't checked out the fest, you should, there are some stellar offerings. <3

I've been blown away by the offerings at [community profile] hp_goldenage's Salt and Pepper Fest, so time for some recs! TBH, just about everything there is great, but these are the submissions I especially enjoyed. :)

Art:

Seeking Crumple-Horned Snorkacks and Blibbering Humdingers by ANON [archiveofourown.org profile] overtheroof, Luna Lovegood, G.

This gorgeously executed piece of art perfectly captures Luna's carefree spirit.
The look in her eyes, her hair, her walking stick...*sigh* Just go look, you won't be sorry.

Fic:

Of Dirigible Plums and Bad Proposals by ANON [archiveofourown.org profile] evandar, Ron/Harry, PG-13, 2461 words.

This fic! OMG, it is glorious. Ron and Harry are older and know each other so well, except for one little detail. Ron's inner voice here is SPOT ON, and seeing Harry through his eyes made me fall head over heels for him. UNF.
There are some great lines in this, but one of my faves has to be:

“What I don’t get,” Harry says when Ron finishes, “is why your Mum’s so insistent about you getting married now. I mean –” he pauses as his eyes rake over Ron’s body in a gesture that’s as coldly assessing as it is intimate. He’s been an auror for far too long for the way he looks at people to be entirely reassuring. “You’re not exactly young anymore,” he continues. “So why now?”

Ron sighs – he’s been waiting for that question.

“There’s a curse,” he says.

Yeah. This Harry? He's the bomb. I get it, Ron. I totally get it. Go read, and you'll get it, too.

Thistle Honey by ANON [personal profile] torino10154, Minerva/Severus, PG-13, 1075 words.

If you give this gloriously understated story a chance it will grow on you. It's subtle, with passion thrumming beneath, much like the relationship between these two, I suspect. I legit teared up after reading. The eternal devotion and love depicted are beautiful. <3

Life Has Just Begun by ANON [personal profile] writcraft, Harry/Severus, NC-17, 6500 words.

This lovely story depicting a deep friendship between Harry and Severus in their later years starts out as a perfectly reasonable conversation between close friends, then morphs into delightfully sweet and sexy coming out in which Harry learns being gay is not so bad. Even if he's only admitting it later in life. Go check it out if you enjoy stellar writing.

Find Your Way Back by ANON [archiveofourown.org profile] unadulteratedstorycollector, Harry/Draco, NC-17, 26000 words.

Yes, it's long, but set aside some time and get ready for some delicious hurt/comfort, pining, and some really satisfying sex. The premise is fun! Harry and Draco got divorced 30 years prior, and now Harry's getting remarried, only their bond is still there. How do they dissolve it? Why by living together of course. If they're not in love, the bond will spontaneously break. (I give you one guess what happens). The author takes us on an intense ride that had me aching and cheering for them and the ending was brilliant and perfect. Go, read, and enjoy!

If you like any of these (or anything else at the fest) do leave the creators some love. It is always appreciated. <3

Content/Warning(s): Whinging, humour, tired teachers being tired.
Summary/Prompt: Every year Minerva contemplates retiring, but the year all the Weasleys show up at Hogwarts may be the one that makes her finally do it.
Challenge: Written for [livejournal.com profile] capitu during the 2017 [livejournal.com profile] hp_goldenage Salt and Pepper Fest.
Prompt: Professor McGonagall is still teaching when the next gen children start coming to Hogwarts. She ponders about how different this generation is from their parents.

You guys!
[livejournal.com profile] hp_goldenage just posted the reveals for their Salt and Pepper Fest, which means I can now claim my little fic, An Open Book. It's gen fic, believe it or not, and it features Minerva and Severus preparing to deal with the onslaught of the next generation Weasley horde. LOL. It was tremendous fun to write.

Also, while it was a small fest, the entries were stellar! I'm becoming more convinced that small fests are the way to go. :) I did some recs a few days ago, but really, I could have just recced the whole thing. <3

Go check it out and enjoy!

Recs!

I've finally caught up on [livejournal.com profile] hp_goldenage's Salt and Pepper Fest, so here, have some recs!

Inevitable Harry/Ron, by Anon [livejournal.com profile] llaeyro, NC-17, ~4K.

Beautifully tender and sweet fic, featuring an omnisexual Ron and a gay just for his BFF Harry.
Their comfort with and care for each other is woven seamlessly throughout, and the sweet hesitancy is lovely. Of course then comes the hot sex, which... yeah, baby.
Even if this isn't your pairing, give it a try, I don't think you'll regret it.

Settle James Sirius/Teddy, by Anon [livejournal.com profile] mindabbles, NC-17, 9300.

James is a perpetual bachelor, mainly because he can't seem to find the right person. Meanwhile, Teddy is divorced, and they're friends, and James figured they missed their chance, except...maybe not? This is bittersweet and lovely, the cast of characters are beautifully written, and the sex is just gorgeous. Go read now!

Night Changes Harry/Draco, by Anon [livejournal.com profile] writcraft, NC-17, 10,600 words.

You need to read this gorgeously characterized story if you like this pairing even a little. Draco is snarky and vulnerable, and trying so hard, and Harry is just as broken in his own way, it just takes him a while to figure out what he wants, and it's gloriously poetic and lyrical and bittersweet and amazing. (And that was one run-on sentence, wasn't it? *sigh*) Just go read! *shoos*

Things Grow Finer With Age Harry/Draco, by Anon [livejournal.com profile] carpemermaid, art, PG.

This art featuring hilarious scenes of Harry and Draco's life together, and Draco's attempts to master Muggle tech is fun and sweet, and the details make the piece. I dare you to look at this and not smile. :)

This is but a small sampling of the offerings there, and there's something for everyone, so chack it out and leave the creator some love, will you? ♥

The [livejournal.com profile] hp_goldenage Salt and Pepper Fest reveals are up, which means I can claim the fic I wrote.
It's an unusual one by my standards since it's gen and focuses on a character I don't often spotlight, Minerva McGonagall.

If interested, you can read it at the fest, In Celebration of New Friendships, although I will be reposting it in my journals soon.

And now for some writing babble. ;)
tl;dl discussion about gen fic in general and my fic in particular )

Anyway, this was all to say that I had fun in this fest, enjoyed a lot of the submissions (see my rec posts here and here) and I hope to participate again sometime. :)

So [livejournal.com profile] hp_goldenage's Salt and Pepper Fest just finished posted yesterday and I have a couple more recs if you're interested. Both fics this time.

  • Into Oblivion by Anonymous [livejournal.com profile] llaeyro, Severus/Sirius, NC-17 (mind the warnings)

I know, I know. What the hell is a fluff-lover like me doing reccing character death fic? Well, when it's as nuanced and sensitively written as this story it, it deserves to be recognized. This is what happens at the end of life, and Severus' heartbreaking honesty is beautifully moving here. My heart ached for both of them, for all they went through, but even in the misery, their love for each other shone through. Gorgeous writing!

  • Still Sounds Like a Song by Anonymous [livejournal.com profile] writcraft, Harry/Draco, R.

Love this Draco. He's just so deliciously snarky. And Harry is beautifully drawn as well. They are both so in love and finally ready to admit it and act on it and accept each other.
This has beautiful, lyrical writing, with some heartbreak in it, but with a sweet, sexy finish that left me smiling.

YMMV, but I think they have something for everyone there. Do go check it out and leave some love, yes?

For those who may be unaware, [livejournal.com profile] hp_goldenage is currently posting their Salt and Pepper Fest. There have been some lovely offerings, so you should go check it out. Below are the offerings I especially enjoyed. :)

Fic:

  • Love and Other Forms of Chaos, by Anonymous [livejournal.com profile] lumosed_quill, Hermione/Millicent, Harry/Draco (ish), NC-17

This is a beautifully written story in which Hermione comes to know herself better, and in which she starts to embrace chaos a bit more. I loved the OCs, like Rose, who was a delight, and Harry, who inadvertently helps Hermione discern her own mind. But Millicent steals the show. She is sharp, clever, perceptive, unapologetic, and just fabulous. I don't blame Hermione one bit for falling for her. Go read and you'll see what I mean.

  • Until Death Comes, by Anonymous [livejournal.com profile] hiddenhibernian, George, Fred, PG-13

Clever, clever plot in which George makes a deal he probably shouldn't have with someone he definitely shouldn't have, but desperate times, right? Only life is short, and he has to pay up far too soon. The somewhat ambiguous ending is actually perfect for this story. And I loved the reappearance of the fierce wartime Golden Trio. They are lovely.

Art:

  • Passing the Trowel, by Anonymous [livejournal.com profile] shadowycat, Pomona, Neville, G.

Beautiful scene where Pomona and Neville are working together in the greenhouse. Love the light in this piece and the plants and the beautifully detailed clothes (Neville's robes and tie), as well as their hair and the wrinkles on their faces. Clearly they both laugh and smile a lot. Oh! And there's a very playful vine, too. All in all, a delight!

Go forth, read/view, and comment! Comments are love. ♥
