So a lot of my Flisters have been asking some fabulous questions in meta posts lately *stares at [livejournal.com profile] who_la_hoop* and I've been having a great time reading all the responses (and responding myself).

But it occurs to me that not everyone posts meta for the same reasons.

I love to see discussion, but others may want to get a fresh viewpoint on a topic about which they have already developed opinions (or perhaps they want their opinions validated *g*), and still others may use meta as a way to reenergize a recalcitrant muse. :)

Hence my question. What do you hope to accomplish when you post a meta post? And when does meta become, well, wank? How comfortable are you with meta discussion that gets...heated? :)

Tell me all your feels!

So the lovely [livejournal.com profile] who_la_hoop asked an interesting question today in her journal. There is a fun discussion going on over there about whether Draco deserves Harry, and it occurred to me that we could ask the same question about my OTP. So I shall. *g*

Does Severus deserve Harry? Or, as I suspect some might even ask, does Harry deserve Severus?
It depends on who you see as the hero of the tale, after all. :)

What do I think? Well, Severus was clearly an utter bastard to Harry when he was growing up, but I think the memories he gave to Harry in the Shack would have caused a distinct shift in their relationship. Harry, looking back (with 20/20 hindsight and an adult perspective) would be able to see why Severus did what he did, and likely forgive him. Their relationship, which was always passionate, would prolly evolve from there. In addition, Severus would challenge Harry in a relationship, something I think Harry would appreciate (this stems from a comment by [livejournal.com profile] gryffindorj in Who La Hoop's post about how the Harry/Ginny relationship smack of hero worship which is pretty icky).

Anyway, I'm opening this up. Tell me your thinky thoughts. And go tell Who La Hoop how you feel about Draco and Harry, too, if you're so inclined. Fandom could use more discussion. :)

Now that the Snarry a Thon has concluded I have a few thoughts on that fest and fests in general. As always, this is just my opinion, it may not make any sense to anyone else.
Cut for rambling )

And that's it.
Bottom line? Yay, Snarry a Thon mods, yay, Snarry artists and writers, yay, Snarry!

So I have been pondering this and I'm not sure if I know the answer. Maybe you all can help me.
What exactly constitutes character bashing?

So I really want to support the LJ boycott/strike, but I suck at meta. What I like to do is drabbling. *g*
So, what you get is an attempt at meta about drabbling. ;)
Cut for babbling )
And if any of you have anything to add, please do!

Well, even though everyone and their grandmother has DH theories, I'm going to chime in with mine.
I meant to re read it on the plane but I didn't manage it. Instead I wrote ficlets and drabbles, hence the spammage today, but I still want to say a few things about the closing of canon. I hope this isn't too incoherent as I suspect I'm still a bit jet lagged...
Needless to say, here there be spoilers, so beware!
Here we go )
